Insurance

Post by Miyagi_GB » Tue Oct 05, 2021 9:14 am

Morning All,

Quite a simple post but how the f*** are you all insuring your atoms? :o and more importantly who with?

I've tried umpteen different companies and am getting quite sick of the same old "we don't have any insurers to place that vehicle with" and the best one yet, "we can insure that because, although it will be in a secure dealership, with cctv and shutters, it will be near other cars" :-\

Soooo, help me out guys and gals otherwise I'll be knocking my purchase on the head :'(

Hi Damian,

There's a list here of insurers that various members have used over the years:

My Nomad is insured via A-Plan in Thatcham at the moment, previous with the Atom I was with REIS, and earlier than that MSM.

I'm insured with ClassicLine for my Nomad. Premium is £684. Has to be garaged at my property overnight and is fitted with a tracker.

Are you US based? I'd have a look on the Facebook group - I think there are a lot more US members there. By the looks of it a lot of people are using Rally, American Modern, and State Farm.

A-plan. Tracker needed. Around £650 for 3000 miles per year. Social, domestic and commuting.

Oh whoops, my bad. I'm with REIS and it's something like £850 for a 3000 mile policy with 5 track days included. One of the requirements was it needed a tracker fitted and they seemed more concerned with experience rather than your usual age, location etc.

Agree. They like to have seen that you have driven performance cars in the past.

Agree - ClassicLine asked the same question regarding performance cars.

Need to ring around a few today as mine is nearly ready. The tracker would be a PITA - what is the annual sub on that nowadays?

Had to have one on my first Elise in 98 and it was an irritant.
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Luckily I've got plenty of experience in Atoms doing both instruction and high speed passenger rides, amongst other high end cars..

I'll give REIS and ClassicLine a call and see what they can do for me :)

Tracker cost + c. £20 per month, can't remember the actual cost. Thats on my current M135i.

I can add another tracker to the same account so both cars would always be visible on the app.

If I were you I'd also give A-Plan Insurance in Thatcham a call as well as they can be very competitive!
