Re: 2007 On Track Photo Category
Very cool! Kempo, that's the most bare Atom exhaust I've seen yet - was that the "just" stainless option? I was under the impression that mufflers were polished for all cars...
Re: 2007 On Track Photo Category
Thanks Karl, this WAS the ceramic coated exhaust. Due to the high temperatures on the track the ceramic coat pealed off (low quality ceramic coat IMO). The flex bellow on the bottom also got a huge exhaust leak (all this has happened on 2 of our 3 atoms the ones that have seen track events) so quick fix for an upcoming event was to build this shorter exhaust system and to sand blast the silencer. After a few laps it turned into this beautiful factory look color. On mine things went a bit different. The silencer blew up. I now have a flowmaster silencer on mine and the exhaust system and engine temperatures went down big time. In addition my car is a bit faster than the orange one in the pictures with the stock silencer. This stock silencers IMO are too restrictive for the car. Here is a pic of the blown silencer you can also see how the ceramic coat is coming off.

Re: 2007 On Track Photo Category
That should not happen with ceramic coatings. I wonder if the cars tuned too rich from brammo are causing excessive heat in the mufflers?
Re: 2007 On Track Photo Category
When we went to the dyno all 3 cars were in the 11.5-12.1:1 AFR ratio which is right on the spot. We spoke to Joe about it he said they had to change the ceramic coater because of this kind of issue.

Good idea.
It sounds painful to me.
