Atom Insurance
Just wondering if anyone had any good recommendation for insurance companies at the moment.
Got a delivery date agreed for my 4 in early March and was just looking for advise on where to go for a competitive quote. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Re: Atom Insurance
I used Adrian Flux for a number of years ..
Here's a good start :-
https://ariel.club/ariel-car-insurance/
They all have differing needs and restrictions - some want experienced high power drivers only, some want massive excesses, some restrict road mileage (though you can usually negotiate an extension), some won't offer or provide track cover etc.
If you want to read more (and there's lots !), just search the forum using the keyword "Insurance"
Others will chip in with their favourites, I'm sure ..

I insured mine with Reis, I tried Adrian Flux but they were really expensive.
Their price was pretty good and it offered 6 track days as standard, they also offered the option of ‘guaranteed value’.
I had no previous experience of driving Atoms, also never done a track day before but I have a lot of experience of driving high performance sports cars-as mentioned above all the insurers are keen to know driving experience and type of cars you’ve driven before they give you a quote.
Re: Atom Insurance
I agree with John. There is a lot already on the forum about this, but it very much depends on your requirements.
As mentioned already, some will focus on track day insurance with occasional road use, others will not offer track days at all. Driving abroad and Tracker seem other Marmite topics with insurers. A couple quizzed me on my experience with 'similar cars'. One focused solely on whether I had owned any other 'high powered rear wheel drive cars'.
My favourite was: "Yes, I know the Ariel Nomad very well. We specialise in Ariel Nomads. Unfortunately, we cannot offer windscreen cover with the Ariel Nomad, but given you own an Ariel Nomad, I assume that won't be a problem (laugh)".
I didn't have the heart to tell him I knew other Nomad owners who were hellbent on pepper-spraying me...
Anyhow, give the ones listed on the website a quick shout. On the whole they seem very knowledgeable and willing to find a suitable underwriter to match your needs. Hopefully your Club Membership confirmation letter will come in handy too ;-)
Oh, and in case you hadn't considered it yet, here's a couple pages of fun around what standard V options could mean when asked if the car has been 'modified'...

Re: Atom Insurance
Thanks for the responses so far guys.
I did do an "insurance" search initially before posting, unless I'm doing something very wrong I got 7 pages in and there was still only actually mention of one company

REIS - i had a VXR220 with them a few years prior. Swapped my full NCD to the atom (my daily only went up from £300 to £330!) and it was still £700. The 2nd year with Reis was £400 IIRC so far more reasonable

Re: Atom Insurance
I have used both REIS and A-plan (Thatcham) in the past and both charged what I consider to have been reasonable premiums - but, to my advantage, I could provide proof that I had owned several high powered cars previously (Porsche 911 & a couple of M5s amongst others)

Re: Atom Insurance
REIS was £539 v £667 for A-plan including 6 trackdays - also didnt have to enable the tracker.
I think footman and james still wont insurance Atoms- is that correct?

Re: Atom Insurance
Is that for a full year?
I must confess that I usually SORNed my Atom for about 4 or so months during the winter and when SORNed I reduced it's insurance cover to fire & theft only!
As a result my cover, when I had my Atom in the UK, it usually worked out to just under £380pa with also a commensurate reduction in the Road Tax.

Re: Atom Insurance
Just a quick update on this.
Firstly thanks for your comments and advise on this, I know someone mentioned there were about 6 companies mentioned in the first couple of pages if I searched "insurance" but one of those post mentioning 5 was over a 12 year period and I was really interested in who was competitive in the current market.
So, having phoned a few companies in reverse order for cost were :
REISS
Adrian Flux
A-Plan
and cheapest and by far the most helpful was Dave at Classicline, so that's who I've gone with
I never got a quote from Lloyd & Whyte as having phoned at 16:55 I was told Will was on the phone and going home at 17:00 so could I call back tomorrow...Note, If you can't even be arsed to take my number and call me back I ain't chasing you to give you my business # Mr Grumpy

Re: Atom Insurance
Thanks for list - I'll try this next year.
They all seem to be random number generators - classicline and aplan were 125 more for me.

Not so random, one of the biggest variables is your home postcode !
