Atom 3 fuse holders....

Post by Atlarge » Tue Jan 28, 2020 6:32 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know off the top of their head who makes the fuse holders in the AA3 ‘front box’ by chance? Is it a Honda original, an Ariel bespoke item or a stock part?

Any tips or pointers warmly received!

Cheers

Sorry, wasn’t trying to be clever - I’ve not seen that query come up before but someone on here may well know the answer!

Henry from Ariel May respond tomorrow ..

Do you have a problem with yours?

Ha ha, no worries!

I’ve been doing some cosmetic touch ups to the front nose section (not the front panel) and noticed a broken foot on the front most left (facing the air box) fuse holder -Not really an issue as such, but it’s aggravated an OCD nerve and as I’ve got nothing better to do until I can drive the car again after the winter....

...With that in mind and because it all looks fairly modular, I wondered about a replacement etc.

I’ll give it a few days and maybe give Ariel a ring if no one knows.

Cheers!

Do you mean the plastic foot under the mounting bolt?

Not sure what you mean by "the front most left (facing the air box) fuse holder"

Is it the one hidden under the thick black earthing cable?

Zooming in on the acrylic covers reveals an 'MTA' logo ..

So it looks like it's part of a modular system sold by these guys :-

https://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Fus ... ation.html

Here's an example of one of their 16 way fuse holders joined to 3 of their Relay holder modules :-

It suggests that the empty fuse holder module is ~ £16 but it's probably quite tricky to remove the broken part and restore the wiring/fuses etc - How OCD /brave are you ? :-\

Yes, it's that one exactly! - Nearest the earth wire in the bottom left of your pic at the front most part of the 'box thing' (I'm sure it has an actual name)... Thanks for finding the manufacturer too, 16 quid seems like a bit of a bargain.

My OCD hubris usually knows no bounds....... That being said though, I'd rather not have to phone up the factory and explain that I've casually destroyed the car's entire electrical system, especially as I'm about a 1300 Miles away!

Cheers!

Ps. If that's a pic of yours, it looks immaculate - I'll post a pic of mine, if all goes well!

Well, that's a turn up for the books! - Looks like there is no need to do a rewire after all, I've got the fuse box in hand now and it looks like everything is modular including the legs, which is a massive relief!

It probably also means my original one is somewhere lost at the bottom of the fuse box which I'll have to retrieve.
At least I have 4 new legs going spare, the fuse holder, lid and all the internal pins too!

Good spot !

Had another look at their web site and it seems you can just buy the right hand and/or left hand feet separately.

Quick update....

Today I went armed with my new fuse holder leg and a plan to install it. Then whilst poking around I found the original one tucked under all the wires and managed to reinstall it without needing a rewire thankfully!

If anyone needs a fuse holder or spare leg, let me know!

Thanks for the tips!!
