serpentine belt, how often does it need changing?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering how often the serpentine belt needs changing? Our cars barely ever reach the Honda advised mileage, so do we change them by age maybe? I have the K20a JDm spec engine with supercharger.
Mine does still look pretty good...

Just keep an eye on it as the ribs usually start cracking from age. Mine needed a new one after only 5k because of small stones getting between it and pulleys which damaged the ribs.

Looks like mine needs changing on closer examination. Could honda do it as its a long trip to the factory just for the belt. Cheers

As long as its the same as the Honda belt shouldn't be a problem. (Non supercharged) - heck buy a belt & do it yourself!

It's the supercharged one. Isn't it tricky to change the belt?

Not tricky to change a belt - easy peasy!
If the supercharger pulley is in place of what was on the Honda type R, an idle roller then the Honda belt may still fit (subject to pulley size) unless its an uprated belt for the SC.
I'd be inclined to ask Tom anyway.

Put socket over bolt

push clockwise to release tension and slide belt of pulley

Whilst still relieving tension, slide belt off crank pulley then release. Unwind belt, inspect, replace if necessary. To fit just reverse the above making sure the belt it seated correctly in the groves/ridges of pulleys
