Champagne region September 6th-9th 2013

Post by deepdurks » Sat Feb 09, 2013 5:25 pm

Dear all,
Last years Brittany tour/holiday went down so well that Inga & I, during some drink fueled debate, agreed to organise a follow on weekend to the Champagne region at the same time this year.

So. Big question! Who is up for a long weekend involving the Eurostar, fine wines, fine food, great company and empty roads??..............Go on, you know you want to.
The sooner we have an idea of numbers the sooner we can sound out B&B's/Hotels/Mansions! Looking forward to your interest,  Mark (consistently the deepest Atom owner).

Hi Mark,

I have done this one before, it's a nice part of France and there is a champagne route. Reims is the biggest city in the area and just outside is what was the old race circuit. You can drive on a part of it as it is a public road. The pits and a stand remain which have been restored / being restored, a bit of a Mecca for racing fans.

I always enjoy a weekend away so providing nothing else is happening on the dates I would love to come.

Regards

Julian

Good plan, Mark. I'd be interested. We could seek out the best roads in the area, without doing any huge distances.
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

We could be up for this if the timing works for us - we have done car and chateaux trips a few times and always been great weekends - bit easier in a 911 but I'm sure a trip with a few Atoms would be fun

Dear all,
After what has been a very encouraging early response we have been able to pin down a weekend we military types can attend.
The rough outline at this point involves a Kent getaway, over or under yet to be determined, at noonish on Friday the 6th of September. After some fun and vino we shall endeavour to return early afternoon on Monday the 9th.
This way your breathalysers from last year will still be in date  :)
There are many details to work on but the dates are hopefully good for those that would like to sample schoolkid-free France.
Keep checking your diaries, this will be one not to miss.
Regards Mark

No routes calculated yet but last time was between 7-800 miles of French highways and byways. Toll roads will be avoided whenever possible to maximise the variety of driving and also avoid les rozzeurs.

Mark,

You've selected the only dates in September I'm free to do this.  ;D
So, subject to getting visa approval from Mrs Evans, I'm up for this.

It will mean missing the Silverstone round of the Atom cup though.

Rob.
From Atom 2 245 to Atom 4 350, via Atom 3 300 and Atom 3.5 310

Tom,
Sorry about the dates, quite hamstrung i'm afraid. Me may meet up at the Welsh weekend wherever and whenever that is (man flu dependant of course).
Rob,
Get that visa request submitted! would she not consider travelling as well?
Regards
