How confident are you Turbo boys, that you’ll at least hit the correct number..... 350?

I will soon tell you next week! The power is ridiculous, coming off the slip road a couple days ago which measures 0.2 mi or 321 metres and I was flat, it was a curved slip road so I did not have full traction either because those ZZR's are terrible on the road. But by the time I got to the end of this small slip road I was at 6600rpm in 5th almost red lining it at a silly speed that I won't say on a public forum.

I have thrashed it since I got it though, mostly allowing it to rev - the nuts off, so looking forward to the results given it should be loose enough now. I worry I'm not getting enough air though because it runs rich and it bangs between gear changes sometimes mostly lower down gears like the 3.5R did on the Ariel video. That said, its sounds like an asthma victim or Darth Vader so you'd hope it's sucking enough air.

All the cars I have seen tested bar some of the k24's seem to make around their factory figures give or take the usual errors.

Hopefully I will get around 350. Anything 340+ is OK! It will be interesting. It might be more. Who knows? Obviously if its not more than 320 i will be on the phone to Ariel!

I want to compare the mid range to a s/c k20. I think the difference will be stark. Its going to be interesting! :)

The red lights flash at 7200 and that's the limiter - it's very soft and just stops pulling almost like you hit loss of power. So best to aim for about 6900/7000.

Don’t you miss the high rev’ing 9000 engines?

I never had an earlier higher reving Atom. They are all good I am sure, I am just enjoying this car so much, power is from 3000 all the way to 7000. I have driven other cars that start pulling at 6000 all the way to 10,000 but I wouldn't say this is better than those, they are just different.

I would like it even more if I can get on track days, something proving really difficult of late...

That is what I am a bit concerned about coming from a K20 on ITBs. Hoping the overall experience makes up for it.
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Seems everyone is going turbo these days. Even the Radical SR10 the new car is a turbo.

The 4 has a completely different engine experience to the old charged k20. The 4 pulls hard from 3k upwards and is very fast from 4k upwards. As Simon has said its all over much much lower though. It doesn't reward wringing it out to the redline. Infact there is no point except 5th where the change to 6th kills the acceleration. You probably run a gear up in many scenarios (except 6th).

In the old charged cars maximum attack on track was all about screaming from 6-8 and getting the change done before 8250 limiter. Playtime in a Atom4 is 4000--6500. It has a very strong midrange.

I miss the charger whine and the rewarding linear response of the old engine. It is audibly and physically rewarded you wringing it out as far as you could / dared. But I think the 4 is faster in a straight line and more flexible on the road. But it should be as it has more power in most cases and a greater spread or torque.

I am happy as i think its more powerful across the rev range (i will show this on the RR hopefully). That makes the cars faster. Thats progress obviously. The noise and response comes down to person preference. For me the noise isn't as good without the charger, and the response is not as engaging. High revs = racecar for me. I guess I am old school growing up on the old screaming NA multi cylinder F1 engines. 8)

Specifically coming from a older charged k20 Atom I didn't like the 320. It didn't seem quicker, didn't like the response or noise. Felt flat IMO. :( BUT with the 350 I am happy again! Trust me its goes like smoke! >:D

I posted this on facebook as well. But results are in 365.6 bhp, 427 Nm torque. Well happy. 13% loss in drive train, so pretty good. Thrashing it from day 1 seemed to work...

Is this still happening on Saturday Peter255?

Rumour has it you may be taking a forced Ariel rest (?).

How much is a Dyno run BTW? I'm tempted to pop along and catch up with folk if it's still happening. May be tempted to get on the rollers, but not if it's a gazillion bucks just to prove I'm the weakest.

Good luck with your waste thingy!
