This is an idea ive raised before, but got only a limited response, probably because it was short notice.

Here, Im getting it early, in case you wish to join us. I propose this is a monthly event on the third Sunday of every month. Its aimed primarily for those in the South East, but you can travel from wherever you want or organise something similar for your area.

Its a simple format followed by a number of other car clubs, some of whose vehicles we can admire at the same time. We get up early, to take advantage of emptier roads (there are some great roads in Surrey, Middlesex, etc), and drive to Newlands Corner GU4 8SE, near Guildford, for a coffee, Bacon sandwich and a chat, as well as admire the other exotic machinery there from other car clubs. Then we head home before Sunday lunch.

Its an opportunity to have a quick blast on empty roads and, to meet and chat with other Ariel owners. We can vary the destination each month, but lets leave it as Newlands Corner for the first. Subsequent breakfast runs on 16 June, 21 July, 18 August etc

Closer to the time I will post more information

Sounds like a good plan to me. Will pencil in the diary and keep an eye on this thread.

Yes still very much on, although maybe a bit far for you Rob? It would be good to see you again. We don't actually travel together as a group (although some cars may do if from same direction), rather an early run on good roads to meet up for breakfast then head home after an hour or so. There has been a suggestion to ride down to Brighton after a future meet. Anybody can come, but best for West London,Surrey, Hants, Berks, Sussex owners?

The cafe at Newlands corner opens at 0900 but the parking fills up before that, so shall we aim for 0815 to 0830? I know the Lotus club meet on third sunday as well so they will be there also. I don't know which other car clubs will be there that day. There should be at least 3 or 4 others.

Apart from breakfast and admiring the other cars we, Arielistas can briefly discuss the future of our breakfast runs, ie, are they worth doing? shall we change venues periodically? shall we do a joint run sometimes after breakfast like say Brighton? etc.

List of people attending

Graeme (anyone coming from West M3/M4 corridors) want to join me before Newlands? I will pick out some fine Surrey roads for us.

Graeme, sadly can’t do the 19th as it’s #1 child’s birthday sleep over the night before so I am on breakfast cooking duty.

I have to get to Southampton the next day so it would seem rude not to partake in this.

Following Karl and Svens recce last week, we have decided on a revised time. Slightly later 0845. I think it would be best if we all pre meet nearby, so we can drive in, and have all the Ariels parked together. There is another car park a couple of miles down the A25, The Silent Pool car park. Here is is on the map ----->https://goo.gl/maps/dQozMh4J934XKv9YA

Can we all meet up there at 0845 please. We will then take the short trip up to Newlands Corner together. Thanks

Anyone travelling from the west who wants to pre meet to drive to Newlands, please PM me to arrange. I will be travelling from the Basingstoke area and picking some good roads. Not the M3 >:(

The usual proviso of the weather applies. We will make a call here on the forum a day or two before the event.

Drivers so far;

Rob

Any others??? There are dozens of owners in the South East. Where are you? A couple of hours of your Sunday morning on fine roads in a fine car, meeting fellow Ariel nutters. Thats better than a lie in isn't it? :)
