Re: Nomad vs Atom
The Atom, by a small margin, I would imagine. The Nomad is carrying the extra weight of one and a half men (120kg).
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

1/4 miles are all about traction....so the Atom by a country mile!!......assuming of course on good quality Tarmac!

Re: Nomad vs Atom
So what everyone is saying Andrew is that you paid up to downgrade to a slower model.
The green doesn't make it faster mate... lol

310=325! That'll be the Presidential Remap kicking in...

That would rather depend what tyres were on each though. Tyres being equal then the Nomad with softer suspension and higher CoG should generate more traction..

Re: Nomad vs Atom
Assuming we are talking on tarmac traction is not a major issue in a rear biased Atom / Nomad, especially when only NA. And you'd have to assume similar tyres tbh.
With the same power the heavier car would never beat the lighter model.
Off road then its pretty obvious which is more suited.
Judging from other threads though the weight difference is not the 120Kg noted earlier and suggested by Ariel. From a variety of sources it looks like a difference of only ~50Kg ~10%. Enough to make a difference but not a huge margin.

Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

Re: Nomad vs Atom
Next club meet at Santa Pod maybe?!? We can put this to bed...
Re: Nomad vs Atom
What i'd be more interested in seeing is a s/c Nomad on track with adjustable suspension wound up stiff, and 18's shod in a048s...... Back to back with an Atom on similar tyres.
Just how much extra roll etc, and how much slower...
Ideally taking turns to try to follow each other with some handy drivers in each.
Come on Nomad people, come along to a trackday!
And before people get defensive, I am aware the Atom is more suited to track work, I just want to understand the dynamic difference. This is for purely selfish reasons to inform a potential purchase for me next year!
And of course the Nomad will be better on any road that's not smooth, or anywhere off tarmac!
