Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
The weak point of all the torque sensing diffs is when one wheel is off the pavement, you get zero propulsion from either drive wheel.
Yup,nada.

Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
not with the Quaife ATB which has a special components using a spring in the center which always gives a minimum of torque to both wheels, even if one is zero adherence.

Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
Then it constantly applies pressure to clutch packs with spring pressure, like a limited slip diff?
Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
there is no clutch in it (or perhaps i don't know all the significations of clutch )

Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
Guys, when considering an alternative to the stock open diff, one must certainly consider the traction benefits offered by the Wavetrac diff from Autotech Driveline. Similiar in design to "other" torque-biasing differentials, but the Wavetrac offers a considerable difference. By design, it has a variable pre-load center pack (as opposed to a fixed spring rate used in other designs). This allows the unit to respond more quickly to traction loss, and will work to prevent the loss of drive if one wheel is lifted (a typical problem, i.e. weakness, of the typical torque-biasing design).

I hope it works better than the Quaife dog gear kit you sold me. I am still waiting to hear from you on how Autotech and Quaife are going to assess the total failure twice of a very expensive dog gearkit. Your last response was not acceptable. I am getting annoyed now. You wont won't like it when I get angry!

Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
For info the RWD version of the Quaife diff is internally different in construction to the FWD version.
It was found that using the FWD version in a RWD (Atom, Lotus ect) application was too agressive hence the changes.
Hope this helps

Spoke to a few guys on the Diff. A couple of Honda specialists and a US Quaife distributer.
The existing Honda LSD in the UK Atom 2 is technically the same as the new Quaife unit in as much as it is an ATB unit and operates the same. The Quaife rep said that the only difference is the cast housing and some minor design changes. Supposedly, Honda copied the Quaife unit. His advice was to use the Honda one until it breaks, as the Quaife unit offers no real performance improvements with the exception that he thinks his is stronger. Fair enough and pretty impartial advice I thought.
I guess it's a shame that the new UK 3 does not have it standard like the old one and it has to be an extra.
Looks like I'm keeping the one that's in it until I break it I suppose.

Re: Quaife Diff Vs. Original LSD?
does Quaife make a RWD version of this one for the Honda gearbox ?
