The club can also email every member, it is seen very much as a 'nuclear option' as no one wants to get loads of spam email but has been used to good effect for promoting the alpine tour and the annual club newsletter.

It depends what "this" is my names on a list to state I will be attending the 3 day event, not just the trackday. I would suggest there is a thread just about attendence at the trackday and this one is for everything else.

Re: Atom X - Celebrating 10 Years of the Ariel Atom
It''s not for another eight months!
Come on organisers, you can't expect people who do things at the last minute like Atom Owners do to decide so far in advance.
You'll know from experience (I certainly do) that a list like this is only hypothetical until the payments come in anyway... How many of those on the list have actually paid their £100 deposit?
And supposing you don't want to do the trackday, how much is is then? Or suppose you live close to Goodwood and only want to do the trackday but not stay in the hotel? Or just the factory visit?
I know it's early days and that much of this hasn't been decided, but that's precisely my point. It's early days.
The Club will have sufficient funds to book the trackday anyway as far as I'm aware (given that renewals happen in the early part of the year which should bring in £3-£4k.

I was wondering about this, as I only intend doing days 1 & 2- the factory visit and the road run.

As usual a very unhelpful post from Bruce.
The first post was only on Friday so I doubt many people at all have paid the £100 which if you read the first post is for the trackday fairly clear to me and other costs will be advised as the club knows them. People will be able to attend as much or as little as they want obvious I would have thought.
If you want to help please do, but don't start being an arse 2 days into the launch of the event.

I don't want to help.John Lloyd wrote: As usual a very unhelpful post from Bruce.

But I don't particularly want to see things going off half cocked either. It seems I wasn't the only one who wondered about partial participation and its costs...
That is the event. Not just the track day. And you are asking for a deposit for the event. The event name is Atom X.
The factory are fully supporting the event, have been integral in the planning and organisation and will be in attendance on each day. After much discussion, it has been agreed that the format of the event will be a mix social gathering, road rally (hooning) and track day.
I don't particularly want to have to step in and give people the information that they'd need to commit to the event either, but it seemed that that tiny snippet of what I would consider not unimportant information was missing. So I supplied it.
Neither do I particularly want to see moaning posts about attendee numbers nine months before the actual event! Personally, I'd pay for the event and work on the principle if you build it they will (eventually) come. I've financially guaranteed practically every club event I ever did. And never needed to stump up the guarantee.
But as we know, what I want doesn't really matter...
Personally, I'd be taking lessons from Randy.
By the way, if any of the organisers feel that this position is unjustified, please feel free to PM me with the reasons why and delete my posts. I don't mind.

Quite right Bruce.
Given I am considering this one, and assuming time off work, money for flights etc etc, information along the lines of what Bruce has suggested would be helpful to me.
Especially as you are talking 500 quid (which is roughly the price of another one way airfare in NZD. This on top of getting to blighty in the first place, and given the ~24hours flying each way, if I am coming over it will be for longer than the 3 days for this...
More info please people.
