Just a quick update.....

I'll spare every detail, but in the end the problem was traced to............. the lamda sensor wiring; it had melted and fused together causing a short. New section of loom going on, this time routing different to the factory routing which passes extremely lose to the exhaust manifold, hence why it melted.

Mines been sheathed in fibreglass based heatshield and wrapped with heat reflective tape for this very reason. Also have a clip securing it so it can't get close to the hot bits. This has happened to a few owners now but not with your symptoms. Must have been fun to find

.. especially a problem if you track it in hot weather and don't do a couple of slow down laps ..
