Alcon upgrade bias adjustment

Post by Atomicandy » Fri Jun 09, 2017 6:37 pm

I'm planning on installing the Alcon upgrade. Will I need to adjust the brake bias ?

Cheers

I believe the bias is set to be mostly rearward with Alcon front / sports rear. With Alcons all round the bias is usually slightly forward of 50/50 (subject to conditions). If you don't shift the bias when upgrading then locking rears are likely as is a spin

Didn't the Alcon conversion include a different master cylinder bore ?

This was to achieve a good range of balance adjustment ..
That may have been for earlier cars ..

That was my understanding too. When upgrading rears I believe it comes with a new rear master (0.7") which then matches front

Atomicandy,

You will need to change the master cylinder as suggested by the others in the thread.

If you order the brake upgrade from us at the factory, you will get all the necessary, brakets fittings and fixings - including the new master cylinder in with the kit.

Can anyone give me a hand

These are the calliper bolts. I know where the small washer goes but not too sure about the large washers. They are quite thin and there is 8 of them

Any help appreciated

Perhaps it's like Ikea, there's always a bag of bits left over when you have finished,    Or perhaps not !!!

I'm guessing they are for the bolts securing the mount to the upright. Does the kit come with new mounts or are the sports caliper mounts re-used?

Nope not for the mounts to the uprights. These come in a separate bag of bolts.
The ones pictures come with the calliper bolts. My guess is they go between the calliper and the mounts.
I'll give Ariel a bell in the morning

The kit is around £1500
