just my 2p... I race bikes and me personally find the arai rx7 to fit really well. its arai top of the range motorcycle helmet and even at close to 200mph on the bike its stable with little buffering.
Buy a lid that fits you well. i find that the car helmets aren't aerodynamic enough and unless your spending big money, i  would go with a bike lid all day long. :)

Remember that your body (and head) is at a different angle in the Atom than it is on a bike. Also the parts of your body exposed to the wind is different. Bike lids don't always work best in the Atom. I'm cheap, so only have one of each lid!

Bruce, I really like the Arai GP5W aswell but how does this compare to your Schuberth?
[/quote]

Both fit well. The Schuberth is quieter and more practical every day and communication bike to bike (or driver to passenger) is better. However, fitting Hans might be difficult with the flip up where it would be fine on the Arai.

Yes, I think the best option will be:

install hans clips on my Arai RX-7 GP with Hans clips for trackuse
use the Schuberth for roaduse with the GF as it's more quiet and comm is better.
(more room in the Schubert for the Mic aswell, compared to the Arai)

I use a Roof Boxer motorcycle Helmet with flip up front. Comfortable, looks great, easy to use fastener and visor flip up catches. I also have a Simpson (Stig Style) carting helmet for passengers. I have tried wearing the Simpsonand find movement to be very restricted and vision no where near as good so this was a good comparison for me sufficient to recommend the Roof Boxer

I use a roof boxer too, though use it on my bike also.

i had a roof boxer with my Atom 2 but i like just a visor down round town and the full montie when on it a bit so i went this time for the shark evoline 3 as it can be either  just visor or full face and a bit lighter than the roof

If you're used to a Roof, try a Schuberth and you'll hear the difference!

What I also noticed.

With the Schuberth you get a large visor opening
So large viewfield.

But biggest advantage is that the room between your mouth and the helmet inside it really big.
So if you're adding comms thats handy as you won't have the mic between your lips!
With my Arai there is hardly any room left, altough a perfect fitting helmet and I love it.

So for everyday use with the GF this might make sense.

Will keep you guys posted.

Bought the schuberth c3 pro and c3 pro women without testing.
I was fed up with waiting for a time where the shop was open, dry and the misses was home from work before shop closed. :).

I will let you guys know the result after the first test.

We also tried the Shoei neotec which is also quite according to the shop
And it was good but if you then try a schuberth the comfort of helmet is a step up.

We also got the src comm system for a decent price and that, together with the lower noise levels was the purchase reason.

Slightly off-topic but worth considering...Bose noise-cancelling earphones. They reduce ambient noise substantially. It's quite eerie but makes for a very peaceful ride if you're doing some distance.

I drove Ariel to Putney last week, 130 miles in some horrible conditions, but climbed out very relaxed at the London end. The earphones reduce noise-related stress.

Not sure I'd use them on track, where part of the fun is the engine.

If you meet me personally, you're welcome to try them on. They're pricey, so you need to know they work!

But isnt your ear being blasted with other noises?
They seem bulky to wear under a helmet?

Now...we need to be able to communicate through the intercom...

The QCs cut a lot of the low frequency noise, like engine rumble. You can play music through them with noise-cancelling on or simply have the noise-cancelling on its own.

They are snug under my closed-face Schuberth, but an easy fit under my open-face Nolan.

Had the helmets on for several short trips now:

1) up till 120km/h they are ALOT more quiet and very good.
2) above 120km/h they are the same as my Arai but that's due to the turbulance
I get from the small plastic windscreen, i'm 6'6.
3) the comms are brilliant!
Where the gf and I first yelled at each other and made hand signals at higher speeds
We can now just talk like in a normal car.

I'm now going to look at a company that can make me a taller small windscreen to try to get the turbulance
above my taller body/head.
Anyone done this before?
