Red LED on the side of the ECU casing

Post by Atomicandy » Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:17 pm

What's the red led for on the side of the Ecu case ?

Is it the engine management light ?

Thinking about fitting the OBDII port. How much is it and is it easy to fit ?

Cheers

Yes Andy, the LED is 'check engine' and flashes a code iirc

Can't recall cost of OBD II kit from factory but it wasn't extortionate. Fitting is simple enough, just a couple of wires up the tunnel to the ECU with port mounted in fuse box.

Wiring detail here but kit includes instructions http://www.atomclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,15569.msg269554.html#msg269554

It's more for diagnostics (than alerting) when she goes into limp home mode. Does the new dash have a check engine light?

Can anyone with a 300 do me a favour.

The red led is not blinking any codes at me but........

When you Rev the engine whilst stationary the light flickers occasionally. On idle it doesn't.

Can anyone with a 300 see if their light flickers when the engine is revved.

Cheers

Had the Red LED as the multiplexer and the 2nd Lamda weren't switched off in the Ecu settings.

Factory are going to sort this out

Would be interesting to know what data you can get out of an OBD fitted to an Atom?

Was the LED incorrectly wired or were both problems incorrect ECU settings? Do you know if this was a problem at build or has a previous owner been tinkering?

How did you zero in on the cause? Cheers

With my Torque phone app https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... e&hl=en_GB
I get these realtime values from the ECU plus stored code access:
  • Coolant temp
  • Intake psi
  • Revs
  • Speed
  • Fuel trim
  • Intake temp
  • Timing advance
  • Throttle position
  • Lambda O2
  • Fuel flow
  • Baro mb
But I only have it to confirm no error codes are being thown
