New rear LED lights blowing a fuse.

Post by Docmatt » Sun Oct 11, 2015 6:19 pm

I changed the standard rear twin lights on my 2008 Atom 3 to the new all in one round ones. They use the same connections so a simple plug and play with a new relay for the indicators.

However all is well until I turn the sidelights on and a fuse blows. It's the Offside only, when I plug the old the old light unit back in and turn it on everything is fine but swap it for the new light and the fuse blows. The connections all look fine and there are no squashed or chafed wires.

I'll ring the factory tomorrow as I suspect it's a faulty unit perhaps.

If it's not too difficult, you could use the known good assembly from the nearside and connect it into the suspect offside ..

If it still blows the fuse, it's not a faulty light unit.

Yes that's a good idea, although I won't have any spare time to do that now. It's going into the factory on Thursday so I'll ask them to take a look.
