Is there something within the ECU of a 3 245 to stop the revs exceedingly 5500RPM?

Reason for asking just been out saw a rain cloud emptying its contents and legged it back to cover, engine was hot and fan kicking in and out as it should got it back inside and gave it a quick blip of the throttle and hit the limiter at 5500rpm, I know if the engine isn't at a certain temperature it can do this, the only thing I can think is either some sort of limiter whilst not under load or oil temp may not have been hot enough or something else, left battery disconnected over night and hopefully get out tomorrow as weather forecast is good.

I believe the ECU has a "limp mode" that limits revs to circa 5,000 rpm if the car is not up to a certain temp.

There are quite a few threads on here, but the majority are from the USA....so probably not much use.

Check all coolant connections and battery connections.....then bring her up to temp. Good luck

I think you'll find that this is by design.

If the car isn't moving, there's a static rev limiter that kicks in at around 5,000 to 5,100 rpm.

Take it out tomorrow, weather permitting and do a road test?

Quite possibly....does it on the Road car type R also. Ingenious.

Cheers guys, that was my thinking.  Weather supposed to ok tomorrow to might have a tentative blast followed by a good dose of fresh water to remove any salt.

Exactly true. No need to worry I wouldn't think.

This is why you have to do dB tests at tracks at 4,500rpm...! ;-)>

Just to confirm, revs to 5000 rpm at a stand still and revs as it should out on the rd.
