Exhaust cat/decat pipe and sealant

Post by smokin » Sun Jun 05, 2016 7:30 am

I've heard mention that the factory use a household sealant on the exhaust joints. Anyone here that does their own cat swap for MoT use any? If so, which one?

Thanks

On pickup from factory build, When I removed the CAT and fitted the bypass pipe, it just had thin dry metal shims each side - no paste or silicon.

Thanks John. It was a reference to household sealant a la factory in our club cat thread plus a little difficulty on my part getting the joints air tight, plus a mention by factory Steve of an A/F sensor contaminated by sealant that triggered the question.

Any silicon will do, just a smear
