Rumour has it you may be taking a forced Ariel rest (?).

How much is a Dyno run BTW? I'm tempted to pop along and catch up with folk if it's still happening. May be tempted to get on the rollers, but not if it's a gazillion bucks just to prove I'm the weakest.

Good luck with your waste thingy!
The session is still booked for OCTOBER 17th. Hopefully my car will be back then.... :-\

Power run is £40. Do it! Why not? It is good to check everything is running right, and it is kinda fun to see and hear the car running at high rpm from outside. 8)

Its not about getting the highest figure, i would say getting the factory suggested (+/- 3%) figures is a WIN. :tu:

Ah October - doh! I was getting confused with another dyno run happening this Saturday - sorry.

I suppose it would be interesting to see how much I'm losing with wobbly tyres and suspension. Why not...

Is there still room to tag along?

Ta.

Karl V There is a spot available. You have been added. :tu:

From memory you lose circa 20BHP due to flexing off-road tyres. If you have road tyres pop them on to ensure good grip. You can get wheel spin on the rollers with off-road tyres. It not dangerous but will obviously impact the accuracy.

Makes sense, ta.

They're not full off road knobblies, so hopefully these will be OK.

My tuner had problems with my ZZR tyres getting grip on the rollers - lots of wheel spin. Alternatively there are hub dynos that connect's the machine directly to the hub on the car, but I am unaware of these at least around here.

So if you have soft road tyres you will likely get a higher reading instead of hard track tyres that will not get to temp. I paid £72 as well so £40 is a bargain I would say.

Out of interest, what do the 3.5R's normally produce power wise?

All terrain tyres will be fine, you might lose some power. The chap will confirm.

Quoted from the old thread
SRR today cool temps.
Steve Atom 3.5 NA 175ftlb 231bhp
Trigger Nomad 2.4 s/c __ftlb 253bhp (operator suggested +20 bhp due to tyre flex on offroad tyres)
Ian Atom 3.5 s/c 210ftlb 290bhp
Ed (duck) 3 s/c modded __ftlb 343bhp
Tony 3.5R 240ftlb 346bhp
Alan 3.5R sequential could not run. :(

For comparison the last results (same place SRR, different colder day)
Run 1: Sir Nick, Atom 3.5R K24, 322bhp, 250lb/ft
Run 2: Ian irg100, Atom 3.5 SC K20, 309bhp, 220lb/ft
Run 3: Alex Brandon-Smith, Atom 3.5 SC K20, 325bhp, 220lb/ft

Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

Thanks, interesting to see the different engines.

I do think, if you rag the engine from day 1, it will loosen it off giving more power. I'd like to retest mine with some stickier road tyres.

I put my 3.5R on a rolling road in Limassol after it arrived back in Cyprus having been rebuilt as a 3.5R sometime during early autumn 2018

I have no idea how accurate the figures I got are - but it returned, from memory, 362.2 (ish) bhp however I can't remember the torque but I'm sure that I posted the original details previously in this forum which I also haven't been able to locate.

I would be more precise but when I checked my Atom file I discovered that the printout I received was on heat sensitive paper which has faded so much that I can't read it any longer!!

Suzuki Celerio 1.0 SZ4 (Cyprus)

You seem to lose a lot of power depending on the type of tyres/wheels you have. With my car they were struggling with grip, so it's best to slap on a pair of soft road tyres. 362 bhp that is very good. Did they tell you want it was at the wheels? Out of interest did you rag to nuts off your car early on?

I'll be wearing what I normally wear. I'm not dressing up for a dyno run.

IMO you cannot directly compare between different RR on different days.

There is a few percent error, and some sites are suspected of being overly optimistic, others less so. It is far easier to tell people what they want to hear. Happy customers come back eh? ;)

Most k20 Atoms seem make around the published figures.

The Nomads are either held back by tyres and / or the k24. We have not yet seen a k24 Atom or Nomad make the published figures, but we have only tested 2 (1 Nomad 1 Atom). Hopefully Karl and Phil will confirm that they do usually too. :tu:

Yes, it's a guideline like everything there are many variables to factor in. Whether the car has been babied or not, how the car is strapped down, tyres etc. I would be interested in seeing the results of a hub dyno these are supposed to be a lot more accurate because you don't have wheel spin or slippage. The factory has told me, cars that were shipped from the factory as a NA felt quicker when they got the supercharger fitted a year or so later than the cars that went out with a supercharger at build.

Would be good if we see this pattern on the 4 with the 350bhp or not. This info is good for new owners.
