London Dawn Raid - 9 June 2019
Re: London Dawn Raid - 9 June 2019
I assume someone has checked whatsoninlondon for any road closures tomorrow...
Re: London Dawn Raid - 9 June 2019
I've checked to see when the Queen is planning to stop celebrating her Birthday. They don;t make it easy...
There is an alternative route passed Buck House if need be.

Looks like most of London is closed:
https://tfl.gov.uk/traffic/status/?star ... IMS-207613
Blackfriars Bridge (that Graeme and I drove over 3 weeks ago) is closed between 2017 and 2022 (?)

I think we'll need to figure it out when we get there...

See. We were all together at one point; before we started the engines...
Great fun chaps, thanks!

Thanks for organising Karl....but it was nothing like our trial run Best laid plans and all that.
I think for future raids we dont try and keep together but have smaller groups of say 3 cars each with a leader with working sat nav then just regroup and stopping points?

Re: London Dawn Raid - 9 June 2019
Yes, good point!
The group was too large (14 cars) for any hope to keep it together on a 3 hour jaunt through London. Fantastic problem to have though.
I've realised something else... The route was 1 single file with 25 or so waypoints. Modern SatNavs take roadworks and congestion into account in getting you between waypoints. It starts to get really funky if the route is more circular. At one point (out by the airport), mine was suggesting I save myself 30 minutes by not lapping the runway and ending back in the same place - and just go to Battersea Park for a cup of tea instead. I should have followed to it really.
So if we know there are 4 'catch up' points, maybe 4 separate files giving us 100 or so waypoints overall. That'll keep the SatNav from making too many decisions - and more importantly - different SatNavs sending people in different directions.
Just set my alarm clock BTW. For next Wednesday...

Re: London Dawn Raid - 9 June 2019
Rob. Sorry for late reply but MyRoute-app doesn’t work with google maps on a smart phone. You can download the file to say a Tom Tom app on the phone, or use the MyRoute-app on your phone, but to use it as a sat nav you need to pay a small subscription. Currently we just use it as a route planning app which can be downloaded to different sat navs. It’s quite good at that. There are other route planning apps but they’re proprietary or more restricted.

I think this maybe the first post you’ve made - since picking up the new Atom - that you’ve not mentioned the SADEV, Mr. P?

London Raid was hilarious! Atoms going one way, coming out of junctions, and that was after 3 minutes.
It was like a Benny Hill Scene, we just needed the music playing!!
It also felt a bit ‘Italian Job’, but not in Italy, without the mini’s, and no bank job! But I’m sure you all know what I mean....
