Run Out Sunday 1st November 2015

Post by julian » Wed Oct 28, 2015 2:02 pm

This is Steve Gibson's baby, but apparently the weather is going to be warm on Sunday so a run out is planned. We usually start at his place in Putney.

It is the London to Brighton vintage car rally so Steve is going to look into a point on their route to have a look as they go past.

Steve is busy with work but will be along with further details shortly.

Anyone interested?

The List.

It's the morning after Halloween, so I'm out.

However, it might be nice to get together near Regent Street on Saturday to look at the Vintage cars...

At least it's the one night of the year you don't have to dress up.

There are a few stops on the vintage car route that seem to be favoured by some of the older car clubs for spectating. Seems MGs, Morgans and Bentleys gather by the Victory Inn next to Staplefield village green. It's east of the A281 route we took to Brighton a few months back. Might be somewhere to head for. Or even a little further south of there.

Sounds great. They leave Hyde park apparently at sunrise and basically use the A23. slowest cars first, then gaps inbetween. They arrive in Brighton at 10. I think it should be a good spectacle?
What time would we have to set off from London to catch some of it?

According to the website, they run most of the morning, with the last ones making Brighton at 4pm.

We'd need about 90 minutes to reach Staplefield going cross country.

OK, plan is:

Meet at Putney Hill at 08.30

Head down to The Victory Inn at Staplefield in Sussex, using the country roads, for 10ish. We should catch the vintage car run as it goes past and should encounter some of the MG/Morgan/Bentley owners, if it's true that they gather there.

Then we can stay there for lunch or pick another venue down into Sussex or up to The Parrot at Forest Green.

Hi guys,

New owner here I've had the car for a week and would love to come out for a run early Sunday morning if I can tag along with you guys. I've got a children's  birthday party at 12.00 so will have to leave a bit early.

If that's okay with you guys can somebody PM me the address where we would meet on Sunday. Promise I won't hold you up .

Thanks Tom Horton
