I definitely can't make the early dates option (sorry Stu I'm already in Italy!) but I may be able to make some of the time for the later dates. I'll wait to see how everyone books and see if I can work into that. Young family means not the whole trip but I may be able to join in places and do stopovers at friends on the continent there and back.
310=325! That'll be the Presidential Remap kicking in... :vroom:

It's just a win-win for Atomclub members who will have a choice of where to hoon this summer.

That's a positive outcome for everyone really. Now people can choose whatever fits their diary. There will be enough drivers to make both worthwhile.

If you need any route advice, I still have my original (storm-damaged) 2008 route book that Bruce made and my route maps from 2010 and 2014.

I think it's a shame we couldn't work toward the same date. Appreciate dates will never work for everyone.

Not just two euro trips but Le Mans trip also.

Six cars is impressive but 20 is spectacular if we were United!

Hi, Stu

Osky (on here) lives in Bologna, about 85 miles from Verona. He's interested in catching part of your trip.

You go away for a weekend in Poland and "Bam" this thread comes alive.

It's a shame we can't all get dates to fit one trip. I'd gladly fall on my sword if I'm the cause. Don't get me wrong, I love theses trips and I'm humbled that my inclusion is sought but at the end of the day, if I can't go, I can't go.

Rob.

Edited: Just noticed the thread for a second trip is already up and running. Thanks to Stu for organising this trip, but it looks like it's the other for me.

This no longer the 'Possible Euro trip'!! We are definitely going.

The dates work for us as the later ones clash with our Himalayan pearl harvest and Mongolian yak milk festival.

So consider this trip now viable and the old saying, two's company threes a thrill!

Thanks John.

I'm going to start looking at routes and hotels in earnest in a week or so, so will welcome any relevant input.

Having a clear out of old files and I found this on my Mac. Four minutes of the 2010 Alpine trip. Don't ask where it was, I have no idea.

Hi Osky,

We've still got to put the finishing touches to the route but we've now sorted dates and hotels.

All but the first Hotel in Como can be booked with easy cancellation through hotels.com, so if anyone fancies coming for all or part of the trip, they can book and potentially cancel if their plans change:

We've built in a couple of play days. so if the driving gets too wearing, you can chill at the hotel bar rather than hooning! ;D

There's lots more detail to add, including route and stops, but this is what we've booked to date:

June 10th
Eurotunnel to Calais, driving to Dusseldorf to catch the overnight Motorail train to Verona

June 11th
Leave Verona, heading for Como via Monza racetrack to look at the old banking etc.
Staying at Dependence del Parco, Porlezza

June 12th
Leaving Como and heading for Grimsel Pass, driving both Nufenen Pass and Grimsel Pass
Staying at Hotel rest. Walliser Sonne Spitz 26

June 13th
Play day, staying at the same hotel and possibly heading to the Reichenbach falls

June 14th
Heading to Fluelen, via Susten Pass, Wassen
Staying at Krone Buochs- Hotel & Restaurant

June 15th
Heading to Trafoi, via The Klausen Pass
Staying at Stelvio Residence

June 16th
Staying at the same hotel and having a play day including an early drive through the Stelvio Pass

June 17th
Heading back to Verona, with a big driving day with lots of twisties
Staying at Hotel Leopardi Via Giacomo (this one was down to secure parking!)

June 18th
Explore Verona then get the Motorail Train for the overnight back to Dusseldorf

June 19th
Leave Dusseldorf and head back to Calais for the Tunnel back to the UK

Sunday 19th is father's Day in the UK, and we'll be aiming to get back into the UK early enough that those of us with Kids can get back in time for tea in the afternoon!

Channel Tunnel times have not yet been sorted but will probably be around 9.00am on the way out and 13.00 on the way back.

All are welcome! :vroom: :vroom:

Cheers,
Stu

The advantage of this trip over the Pyrenees one is that it doesn't clash with Glastonbury...!
