'Sunday Drivers' - A weekend of the best roads in Wales 21st/22nd June 2014
Club member Ben Daniel is organising a re-run of the Welsh weekend from the last couple of years. It'll be a full weekend of Welsh exploration with a good old fashioned dinner and knees up, Atom Club style, on the Saturday evening.
The start point will be Tesco car park in Pontypool NP4 6JU on the Saturday morning, time TBC. From there we will take in some great roads and scenery, finishing the day at Llangennith on the Gower Peninsula. Tom has a list of accommodation that Ben has given to him so just e-mail at tom@atomclub.com and we'll get that over to you if required. We do need to start thinking about booking fairly soon as hotels and B&B's are going to get full up pretty quickly at that time of year and we need to get numbers for the Saturday night meal. Ben has sorted off road Atom parking at one location in the village too....
Following a not too early and nice leisurely start we'll take in some more great roads and photo opportunities, finishing up back at Pontypool.
Any questions - please ask!

Definitely put me down for this again
I'll contact Ben about some adjustments to the route and also look into the possibility to extend it if people are interested.

Please be gentle with me as this is my first post!
As a newbie Atom owner in Wales I hope to make this my first event. I'm definitely free on the Sunday and am trying to get Saturday off work.
I picked up my new car on March 1st and have been 'running the car in' around Monmouthshire for the last month. The car is due to have its first service next week after which I'm unleashed.
The roads of Wales and the Atom are made for each other.
The local reaction to it is amazing, motorcyclists giving thumbs up, crowds around it when you park, people
taking photos as you pass, I even had a petrol station shut while I filled
up because the attendant wanted to come and take photos. No one told me it would be like this!
Tom has given me the list of accommodation in the Gower but was wondering if there was one hotel/b&b where everyone is gravitating too. As soon as I know I've got the extra day off please count me in for both days.
Cheers
Chris

Hi All,
Great news that some new people are going to be joining us. Chris, congratulations on your new purchase – I’ve certainly found S.E. Wales a good place to own an Atom.
I’ve sorted out a few changes to the route we have used for the last two years, which with Kezzie’s superior I.T. abilities is likely to be available as a ‘Tyre’ file before the event (Thanks Adrian!). Hopefully managed to keep the best bits from previous trips and also gain some new good bits.
I’m aiming to try it out before the 21st, will let you know how I get on.
Cheers.
Ben

Hi,
Just thought I’d let you know how the reccy went; tried out the majority of our proposed route 2 weeks ago. Pleased with the changes, at the start of the route, we avoid the laborious A4043 going North from Pontypool and gain ‘The Tumble’ which does not appear to have bicycle race on it on the 20th.
The road around Llyn Brianne is a lot of fun with generally good visibility and some challenging corners with big drops off the side.
Our route back on Sunday has been lengthened, with a mixture of very rewarding valleys roads and urban sprawl, hopefully the one will make up for the other.
I’ve done my best to give some write up some trip notes, Kezzie can supply these, together with tyre files for both Saturday and Sunday.

As Ben has said I've done Sat Nav files for both day's routes.
If you want these please DM me with your email address and what Sat NAv file you need - TomTom or Garmin etc.
Look forward to seeing everyone at Tesco's Pontypool in 10 days time.
