I'm probably being a bit thick (again ..) but the Luton reference was a cheap flight destination from Cyprus which was relatively close to Bedford (Jonathan Palmer) ..

I know what you meant, just seeing Luton and Rio as alternatives tickled me.

Just to answer John H's and others fears, it isn't proposed to do massive milage each day, I have quoted 150 per day but could do 100 ish. Plan would be set off about 10am daily and be at hotels around 4pm, it really depends on how far West and South we aim to go. French countryside is wide open, roads are fast and good so a lot of miles can be covered.

Shame you are busy John, can't comment on the set up of your car but I know at Atom X, it had no headlights? Could be a problem in France or do you fit them as required.

Regards

Julian

Thanks Wattie, would be great to have you and Kel along one day. I know you are stuck on an Island but there must be cheap flights to UK now and again.

unfortunately we miss out on a big part of Atom ownership....the track days, fun drives like this etc. Whilst it's awesome to have the car in a climate perfectly suited to it's design....it's a shame not to have the Atom community and close nit network of enthusiasts that exists in the YUK.

Cheers Wattie

And because I'm going, we will be stopping for tea and cake. Frequently.

Revised Route and Crossing

After some thought it has been decided to amend the above trip. We are now departing via the Tunnel on Friday 16th September 2011 @0920 from Folkstone to Calais. Return will be Sunday 18th September 2011 @1720 Calais to Folkstone.

The cost of the return crossing is £110.

It is the proposed to drive to Dunkerque, Vimy, Douai and Laon. Our first night will be at the Hotel Restaurant du Golf de L’Ailette in Chamouille. Cost of hotel is 109 Euros per room, breakfast is 14 Euros.

Day 2, from hotel a scenic route to Beauvais staying at the Le Moulin des Forges in Saint-Omer-en-Chaussee. Cost for double room is 66 Euros.

Day 3, from hotel a scenic route back to Calais via the Battle Fields of the Somme, and Arras.

Mileage as predicted works out at about 150 miles a day, but totally flexible. If running late we can cut corners and save time.

We have 3 Atoms going at the moment.

Richard Marler
Andy Smith & Holly

If anyone else wants to join this revised trip add your name. If you need any more info, details, ask away and I will answer.

Regards

Apologies, guys.
I can't get the 15th nor 16th off work, so I can't make the trip.

Rob.

Tout change. I'm coming.  :)

Have booked the tunnel, first hotel and waiting on the second. Long story, but we cancelled our Swiss trip due to Liz's workload which means I can now fit this one in.

There are now FOUR Atoms invading France...
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

I'm very tempted by this, but need to examine the cash-flow situation nearer the time...

i am also tempted, but would love the other half to come, as i dont want club members thinking im married to my mate chris!. as this one seams like it would be good for novice passengers, ill see what i can do about kids and work. id really like to do  some longer trips, so this might be a good way of talking her round.
cheers mike

Hi Mike,

Would be great to have you and your wife along, I have done long trips with mine and my sons and it works fine, all that are going are great and easy to get on with. Looks like Holly is the only fem so far and she is lovely.

Keep us posted.

Hi All,

Steve and I had a meet last week and finalized the route, he is loading it onto Totom so we can Bluetooth that across on Friday morning. Andy and Holly are staying with me in Chiswick on Thursday then meeting Steve in Putney and traveling to Tunnel.

Andy and Holly, I will PM my address.

Not to late for any others to get aboard?

Regards

Julian

Just booking everything now!!

Tunnel and first hotel booked, but the Le Moulin des Forges in Saint-Omer is fully booked now :( I will look for the closest hotel...

Does anyone have a spare bed for Bart and I for Thursday night, or should I book Travelodge in Folkestone again?
