Hey guys.

Hope you can spare a few moments for  some dumb noobie questions...

1. Has the meeting place, time and route been posted in the clubroom yet? If so, have I missed it?
2. Where do I stick the TomTom with the route details? With no windscreen, I can only think of one place. Be kind...
3. Should I replace my Yoko front tyres and Toyo rear tyres with a full set of R888s?
4. Why does my garage smell of petrol ever since jacking up the front end 3 weeks ago?
5. Should I bring a camera?
6. What happens if it rains?
7. What if I need the toilet during the run???
8. Will the loud exhaust be too much in the tunnels?

Feel free to only answer question 1 if you want :-)

IonMan.

P.s. My real name is Karl - I wasn't named IonMan at birth.
P.p.s As we are meeting at the weekend, you can call me Sandy.

Nope
2. Where do I stick the TomTom with the route details? With no windscreen, I can only think of one place. Be kind...

I'll hold back here and just say mounting bracket on the frame (or duct tape anywhere!)
3. Should I replace my Yoko front tyres and Toyo rear tyres with a full set of R888s?
R888s are proving hard to get so A048s all round looks like the better option at the mo. If they aren't worn out, as long as you have the same tyres
on the same axle it isn't worth doing anything
4. Why does my garage smell of petrol ever since jacking up the front end 3 weeks ago?
How much petrol was in the tank?, probably just coming out of the breather pipe. Ignore it but always enter your garage wrapped in a fire proof blanket and that should help ;D
5. Should I bring a camera?
6. What happens if it rains?
Are you not bringing a team of mechanics with umbrellas?
7. What if I need the toilet during the run???
You are going out with a bunch of predominately middle aged men. It is a competition to see who caves in first.
8. Will the loud exhaust be too much in the tunnels?
Hopefully ridiculously so

You sir are a worry and an inspiration. Welcome

Cheers,

With such a large group it'd be best to split responsibility into about five groups, each led by soemone with a decent knowledge of London, or who has done this before or who understands how to read a TomTom! Also to have a sweeper to help the hopelessly lost. That way at least you stand a chance of all reaching the Ace!

To this end, it might prove useful to rate your knowledge of London up to 5, where 5 is London Cabbie level and 1 is hick tourist reading map upside down.

I'd rate myself a '2' lol. Other thoughts - we are ending up at the Ace Cafe so make sure you have at least a vague idea where it is! Make sure that's in your satnav if you have one. If you don't have satnav, find someone who does and stick with them.

It was a real case of the blind leading the blind last time wasn't it!  Still we got to see some 'lovely' parts of London en route to the Ace!

Possibly, only caveat is we may stay in London the night before.  Perhaps discuss over a beer en route back from hooning and honing ?

I'd rate myself as a "2" as I have a handy sized copy of the London A-2-Z
Maybe push it up a bit due to upgrading to a TomTom ;D
So as long as I have the ITN file loaded and working this would help, maybe, get me to a "3"

Aye, bit of an adventure round that dodgy-looking council estate while trying to find a 'straight-ish' route from Paddington-ish to Hanger Lane.... ;-)
