South East monthly breakfast meet - 15 September

Post by Karl V » Fri Sep 06, 2019 2:49 pm

Probably the last Sunday Monthly Breakfast meet before cars start to get SORN'd until next year.

How about Mercedes Benz World in Weybridge?

Café 1886 opens at 9am for brekkie, with the exhibits opening at 10am. Free parking and free entry.

9am for tea and sausage???

Bugger!!!

It’s Goodwood Revival on the 15th, and I’ve got tickets.

I see Peter has got his name down to go to Weybridge, in his Atom 4 😩

Looks like a good shout to me mate. What sort of route are you thinking?

Have a blast Sven, sounds fun!

Alex - the idea behind the South East Monthly Breakfast Meets is just to meet up somewhere and have a catch up. Some folk travel in convoy to the venue taking the winding routes and a couple of times we have done an impromptu tear up afterwards.

So it's more a social gathering really where we go to show off the cars in the car park, chat to other car/bike enthusiasts and of course demolish a bacon roll and a cuppa early on a Sunday.

Have I got that right GraemeW? Anything to add?

thats right Karl. Also really to find some good empty roads on a Sunday morning to get to the venue, on your own or with others travelling from same direction

No problem at all chaps...sorry this is the first one i've made this year! Poor show on my part. I'm getting my sh1t together now to be better organised hopefully getting some more time back.

Well I have to come up past Basingstoke anyway so Graeme if you decide a route I can always join you. Else I'll just head up for a natter. Look forward to it.

I've never been to Mercedes Benz World before, but took a wee drive there this afternoon to do a recce.

What a cool place for petrol heads to hang out! Some nice metal to look at including AMGs, old Mercs and of course a F1 car. A nice viewing area to watch people doing pirouettes on the skid pan as well as some fast laps in the AMG monsters.

What I did learn from the staff though is that the cafe opens at 9:30 on a Sunday, but earlier the rest of the week. The main building opens at 9, so I suggest we still aim to meet at 9 to get the best parking spaces.

Which brings me on to...

Parking was a bit confusing (probably because I'm quite simple!) with the various barriers and 'cars for sale' sections, but I figured it out. Head right up to the front of the building (which your brain will tell you is the rear) and park right outside.

Hopefully the weather will be on our side. Should be a fun morning!

I do hope so.

I'd hate for Peter255 to get his shiny new Atom 4 wet.

No pressure Pete ;-)

Karl

I'm trying to figure out how putting lumps of rubber (chocks) under an aircraft's wheels to stop it rolling away relates to spilled claret and a keyboard?

:roflp: ;)
