Sweet. Cannot wait to see what everyone has gone for.

AP brakes rather than the usual Alcons.

Both builds, I’m sure will be great.

What’s the score with AP brakes, are they better than Alcon 4 pot, and do they work with both hand brakes?

I wasn’t offered the AP, just want to check I’m not missing out! Thanks

I didn’t ask for AP. I didn’t change brakes but was surprised to see them going on?!
I was pretty sure the press car was Alcon breaks and the spec list didn’t have a choice as I remember??
I have the hand break and it looks like that’s been fitted to the rear

Do you know what else is odd?

I had a 2014 Atom 3.5 - and that had a K20 engine... had a red crackle cover... your's don't. Odd that.

The AP brakes, I believe, are the 'replacement' Alcon brakes after Ariel had a change of supplier - both are top end spec so I believe (although they look like the AP 'standard' discs, and not the AP 'race' discs).

Much of a muchness was the quote at some stage, so all should be good. What's good for the 4 on a track... :tu:

It does make me wonder though if they really have run out of Alcons now. I know it was touch and go when I wanted to upgrade the standard rears to Alcons. At one point, I was looking at Alcons up front (already in place) and APs at the rear (all we can offer right now Sir...). Thankfully a couple of Alcons surfaced just in time for my upgrade. Nothing wrong with APs mind, but a mix of Alcon and AP? That wouldn't have worked for me, but as I say - all worked out in the end.

Can't comment on the silver top. Standard in the 2.4s I believe, but normally red on the 2.0s? Really don't know what the significance of this is - if any.

The rest all looks pretty standard '3rd Gen' though; and looks good

I think some of the last 2.0s had a grey top like that, and all the 2.4s

But I don’t think the grey 2.0s where the same as the red top ones, lower Rev limit or some such.

I may have this all totally wrong mind.

Not sure. I could probably muster a COVID passport if you wanted, but not sure about a Nomad frame.

Anywho, Ariel's very own sand coloured frame is not too dissimilar (if you squint really hard) and they did a sand / green combo at launch I think it was.

I'd be tempted with gold wheels and then British Racing Green panels, plus some spare black ones.

Art had gold wheels / black frame and black panels. Looked pretty good IMO.

Has nobody gone for a white frame then so far? I was semi-tempted with white, but I think I would ruin it too quickly :(

I've gone for white, with Renault liquid yellow panels / wheels, you should be able to see me coming, hopefully it works!

I can picture it already Neil

So any thoughts yet chaps on a Nomad R outing?

Your buy / build stories have been pretty tight. I expect you'll all get delivery at a similar time too.

Any thoughts for a maiden voyage? Do any of you live near each other?

Could the be story of 2021. Hold the front page of the 2022 Club Calendar...

Brakes update. Ariel have a supply agreement with AP now so that’s what they use. Tom saying they are at least as good as the Alcons, if not better. I’m
Sure they’ll be great!

On the 5, we did very early on suggest once all built we arrange a get together and a photo opp

I’d still be up for that! Maybe even mention to some of the motoring publications as they may want to do a feature??

Looking at the photos of my Atom 4 in build, I notice the brakes on that are AP Racing not Alcon.
