Dashboard light, dim

Can someone tell me what this red light is that is shining very faint. It looks bright on the picture, but it’s not in the flesh.

I think that it shows that the handbrake microswitch is open circuit (i.e. the the setting position needs adjusting/tightening) on my Atom it regularly needs 'nipping up' as it loosens due to the vibration.
