27psi hot???

No wonder why you were under steering. Mine were 14 front and 17.5 rear.

Tony, It does sound like too much tyre pressure, but it does depend on which tyres you have fitted.

You need to get sufficient heat into the fronts. Lowering the pressure helps with that.

Tony,

Where did that information come from? Pretty sure I've not seen that before. I agree that 27psi sounds massive, I had something like that after the locals had fitted new tyres, the car was all over the place.

It was in the history folder when I bought the car.

That will be why so much understeer then.

At Castle Combe it was so planted....!

Bugger, I could have had even more fun!!

Very different!!!

This was the Ohlin settings at Castle Combe (as what was set when I bought the car)

Fronts
-3 COMP
-9 REB
Rears
-3 COMP
-9 REB

I didn’t even check the tyre pressures at Castle.... which wasn’t clever!

I was running 17 front 19 rear until recently, it’s way happier on 13.5 front and 16 rear. 12f 14r seems to be quite favoured on track though.

I got it very wrong, eh!!?? That’s why the front felt like it was on ice.

I’m very excited to see what the ‘R’ will do next time at Bedford.

I was a bit daft not to put 2 & 2 together, but it was a few sessions before I was pushing it enough to really feel.

Factory recommend 27psi hot for Kumho.

That’s what I’m running..... but something was massively wrong because I had so much understeer.

Probably a tyre or camber problem.

With supersoft R888s or A048 and 2.45 front camber I dont usually encounter understeer - usually progressive overseer.

It's only my 5th track with the cup and second time at bedford - so I'm still learning - however if your fronts (and rears) arent in their operating temp I tend to find the car is very frisky!

My main problem was locking up the rears until I put back the brake biased !

I think the discrepancy in the recommended pressures is coming from the different tyre types Kumho or Yokohama.

Maybe the wings are angled wrong too? Too much on the rear and not enough on the front?

But it was very different at Combe.

No understeer at all, progressive oversteer, which is much better.

The only things I changed is the tyre pressures and Ohlins, as recommended.

First thing then is to put it back as it was and retest! People do have different preferences.

And if its still a problem get the car on axel stands and carefully check all the suspension. Could be an issue / damage somewhere.

Good luck finding it. :)
