What a great write up Steve Gibson - and good to see you've been updating it from time to time too.

My eye was caught by the advice to carry a spare wheel bearing and a couple of track rod ends. Is there a story behind that advice, or is that what every well prepared Ariel owner should be packing for long trips?

I'll probably throw in a spare pack of wet wipes too...

The wheel bearing would have been for the Atom 2, I would guess.

Gotcha. Do the French AA not carry Atom 2 wheel bearings then?

We're a dedicated bunch...

Wheel bearing were always a risk on earlier cars, yes. Not so much on later Atoms.

The rod ends are worth taking. Prone to wear on Atoms and they take up such little space in your spares pack.

I think we had one fail back in 2008.

And Ben wore a hole in his water pipe that runs to the front rad. That's another story. :)
