Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
Congratulations to John Williams who has just been voted the country secretary for New Zealand!
Let's see what the lads down under can come up with now!

Thanks for the endorsement; I have no idea what I've let myself in for.
By Christmas there should be at least half a dozen cars in the country and it would be great if we can get some unity amongst Kiwi owners. Already it is apparent there is a need for sharing of information that will resolve local issues and assist owners with caring for their cars.

Congratulations John! Welcome to the madness. Happy to hear of the growing Atom community there and glad to have you on board.
Re: Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
Nice one John! I look forward to meeting up in a year and a half and adding to the NZ Atom count.
Re: Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
Well done John. Let me know when the first AGM is I need an excuse to visit aged aunt in Hastings and this time I will jump off that bloody building in Auckland. Does it serve any purpose other than being f'ing tall?
Re: Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
Congrats John... I guess I have to give you some honourific now...
Sir...
The Sky Tower is that big, because we are compensating for something...
JL, my family is in Napier... so if you need a lift down...

Respect, maybe ...... membership DEFINITELY
IMHO the Harbour Bridge climb and bungy jump would be more of an adventure that the Sky Tower jump.

Re: Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
I could always take JL down south to climb Terror Incognita... there is a reason for the name...
Respect?
Yes, your majesty.
Membership was only a pain in terms of arranging payment to the UK... the formation of AAOC (NZ) solves that.
Membership will be forthcoming in fact if you have the banking details... I can do it tonight.
This way I can be a founding member... YAY! Qudos for me.

John (or anyone else who is interested).
There are two major bungy jumps you can do in Auckland.
One from the Harbour Bridge, head first, over water, which is freefall 40M (131ft). Here's a video.
The other from the Sky Tower, feet first, over land, controlled descent of 192M (629ft). Another video.
The Sky Tower's other uses are that the upper portion of the tower contains two restaurant levels (one with revolving seating) and one cafe level, as well as two observation decks (including some with sections of glass floor). The tower is also used for telecommunications and broadcasting. It also houses the Auckland Peering Exchange (an Ethernet-based neutral peering point). Several radio broadcasting companies co-locate transmitters and share antenna systems, while television company Canwest has secondary transmitters on the tower.

This new forum software is amazing as this thread has only just popped up on my computer similar to the way some of the games threads disappear for a while.
Anyway John, congratulations on your appointment to the hierarchy.

Not a problem with the forum software Alec, more likely an issue with one of AOL's proxy server's caching things for you. Why does anyone use AOL?

Well if AOL are your internet provider then you don't really have a choice, although I mainly just use Internet Explorer as opposed to the AOL version as my browser of choice and it's with this that I have these discrepancies occurring.

Re: Welcome Wisp - new country secretary for New Zealand!
No, I think the problem is probably down to AOL being your Internet service provider - I may be wrong but I have a feeling that they proxy all their web traffic through cacheing servers - this would affect all your web access.
Anyhow, I don't think this is an issue in the forum software itself.
Cheers, Ross.
