Was hoping to go to the Fraser day in Taupo on the 8th... but money is a little tight at the moment.
What, with buying a new house and all...

What does a track day go for in NZ these days? At Taupo for example.

Most trackdays are $100 - $150 depending on who's running it, which track, and how many cars.
Some "open"days are even cheaper if you don't value your car . . . or your life.
When you do the conversion from Pounds to the South Pacific Peso it's cheap as chips.

Trackdays can cost anywhere from about £100 - £375 over here (NZ $256 - $962)

Insurance rate increases for the race school have been blamed at Pacific Raceways to justify considerable cost increases for
a track day held under their auspices.
Now it stands at ~ $280 per car + driver #1, something less for an additional driver #2 in same car, (if sharing).
Car Club sponsored days are somewhat less costly for admission, but these are run (generally) with only cursory
inspections of the cars and there is an air of anarchy that worries me.

UK and US track days may be more expensive than in NZ but at least you can get some forms of insurance. If it involves a race track or motorsport event (club or competitive) the NZ insurance companies don't want anything to do with it.

General update:
Car is here, road legal and had a maiden run (Pip had her first ride) last night.
I will be squeezing in some short trips when and as time permits.
For those that arent 'in the know', we have just finished shifting house and are in the process of renovating the old one to rent out.
So my weekends will be spent looking longingly at the Atom in my garage as I head out the door to spend the next 8 hours sanding/painting etc.
Also a US customer is coming out to visit next week and I'll be spending considerably more time at work... and then finishing the renovations...
I was hoping to head down to the Fraser club track day this weekend, but thats not happening.
Similarly, I was intending on taking a week or two of annual leave and vanishing into the countryside...
Oh well.
Gotta pay for this expensive toy sitting in my garage somehow...

! ! ! CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !
Plenty of trackdays around when you get the chance. Just make sure you get a recommendation for the better ones as some can be . . . a little random.
