It gets worse...

I found out today that Customs were lying... there was nothing at all wrong with their machine... they went out to inspect it today.
Then they placed a HOLD order on it because the chassis number on the invoice doesnt match the car or the shipping info...
Which was also the reason behind a 'query and inspect' notice they had put on the car...

But rather than just call me and let me know so I could have rung Tom last night... they leave it... and I find out from someone else... on a Friday! By the time I hear back from Tom, it'll be Saturday... and they dont work Saturdays.

Morons.

Remember my post on the other thread when we were discussing what all the numbers meant and I mentioned that mine had been recorded incorrectly:-
Due to an error my original document arrived with:-

AA06HZ0ZZENRAM308

upon notifying DVLA of this error they returned it after altering it to:-

AA06H20222NRAM308

I had originally thought that someone at Ariel couldn't write legibly but it's obvious that people at DVLA just can't read properly.  :P

I have not been able to get any reply from them since so it's still wrong.

It should be:-

AA06H2022ENRAM308
Maybe the original error was the factory's fault after all.  :-\

NZ Customs... wierd, the lot of them.  :pop:

Got a call today at 3:30pm odd, customs broker saying that customs have cleared it.
Got a call 3:35pm from the customs yard, customs/brokers had faxed through the order to release.

;D

Got a damn lawyers appointment tonight though so will pick it up (and then take it to compliance place) tomorrow (Sat) morning.

Actually I spent Saturday driving and talking to the compliance people, then went to see The Police play live (BRILLIANT).
Then I spent Sunday, sanding and packing, and cleaning in prep to paint the interior of the house...

(stupid 128k limit...)

At least those paper floor mats will help you in terms of knowing where to put your feet!

I'm wondering how your exhaust managed to get tarnished already, given that it's a brand spanking new vehicle?  How many miles were on it, as delivered?  Not that it's any big deal, mind you.  If you're like bolus, you'll find a way to keep it looking new.  If you're like the rest of us, you'll happily let the hue change in whatever way it chooses to.

I saw The Police in Miami this summer and agree that they were incredible, at least for being the old farts they are!  None of them have lost a thing.

I think a lot of the exhausts get tarnished due to some sort of coating that is (imo incorrectly) applied to the exhaust - a good bit of polish should be applied and then strip that off before really using the car - otherwsie it'll burn in

want to hear your first impressions, driving  :pop:
