In Texas they have yearly state inspections. A failure of "the system" would be yet another thing they'd flunk you for just like failing you with the PCM check, smog check, or visual. It's be just one more thing they'd check (2 way communication). And remember, computers store data for the last 'X' number of starts (cycles) so who's to say that they couldn't pull the last 30 days or more of everything the car has done.

Apple has no way to deactivate those phones unless people d/l and install a newer update. It's actually a good problem for the company to have. The iPhone is not a loss leader for Apple. They just are not making AS MUCH $$ as they could otherwise.... And most of the phones are probably overseas in areas Apple doesn't have a carrier for anyway. Russia, India, Saudi all have stores selling them at $1,000 or more. It's a hot item. My brother is anxiously awaiting the SDK for it.
