Track Insurance

Post by 77_TYX » Wed Mar 20, 2019 2:53 pm

Am insured with Adrian Flux for on the road - about £500 pa. Was slightly surprised when I just got quoted £550 with £6,000 excess for 1 day's track cover :o

In a fit of discontent, if there is such a thing, I got a quote from Moris...which was a more palatable £319 with £3,500 excess.

Does this fit in with your experiences?

Hi I pay about £700 per year for road insurance and that includes 6 (I think, might be 5) trackdays. It's with https://reis.co.uk/

So paying £319 for a single track day is a bit on the pricey side as far as I'm concerned. That said insurance is a strange game, and REIS me be very pricey for you, making £319 a bargain. And you can see I'm in an Atom, so the cheaper end of things.

Other people have said APlan may be a good be too.

Had my Atom one year.
1st year A Flux was £750, renewal £705 (no track days). Several companies would not cover me due to never owning a fast car.

This month which is my second year, phoned around, all quoted around £700 except Reis.
£360 or £700 with 5 track days.
Track day xs was 10% value of the car, reduced to £1000 for an extra £50

You can never tell with insurance.

On my other car they were quoting me 1600 for normal road use. The moment I went to CCI (part of footman and James now iirc) and asked for track use, the price dropped to 600 - probably because I'd used them in the past and logged all my trackday with them.

Morning All, while I don’t have a Nomad yet! I have insured a Caterham R300 for the last 12 years and i go to the usual suspects each year Adrian Flux and REIS. They are both pretty competitive. It can be annoying when you switch and then my existing insurance will match! One to note is that if you trailer your track car you can get your tow vehicle insured for a lot less. Managed to get my Overfinch Defender with over 110 modifications including engine insured for less than £500 as the “Support Vehicle”.

Happy Days.

Cheers

Aplan are good as well.

Support vehicle is good scam - I did the opposite, I made the road car a race car - it halved the insurance.
