Salisbury Plain?
Salisbury Plain?
I think I want to build up a bit of speed off-road and practice some handbrake turns, drifting and general kicking up of dirt.
Rumour has it Salisbury Plain is a great place to go for an open stretch of fairly level dirt.
Anyone been? Would you recommend it? Are there any recommended 'trails' as such to tackle, maybe with a few inclines?
Not sure I'm ready to christen the winch just yet (especially on my own!), but do fancy a bit of general hooniganism.
Would appreciate it if anyone has any tips!
Ta.

Re: Salisbury Plain?
My, you have changed since that first reluctant venture onto a bit of Exmoor gravel last year
Re: Salisbury Plain?
Karl V He was scared of puddles!
Re: Salisbury Plain?
Sir Nick I was worried about what laid at the bottom of puddles!
Anyway, I still maintain that I was bullied that day. You scarred me for life...

Re: Salisbury Plain?
Salisbury Plain is awesome! Been there many times in the Nomad.
Pray for rain, mud just adds to the experience and makes the soil softer for jumps

You see irg100 - a random puddle in the middle of nowhere!
Looks suspicious to me... Luckily, I lived to tell the tale ;-)

Shame about the horse
Re: Salisbury Plain?
Ha! The irony is, there are more bridleways around these parts than BOATS.
Maybe I should stick to scaring horses, but I think maybe Sir Nick has that covered already ;-)

Re: Salisbury Plain?
So puddles aside (how rude of everyone!), I'm continuing to experiment with routes - thanks to Henry for his input here too!
I'm assuming that the red flags will be flying, so have plotted a couple of routes outside of firing zones. If the flags are down, then that could open up more choice.
The first route is a 'circular' route taking in Stonehenge and getting up close to the firing zones. The 2nd is more of an A to B route recommended by Henry. I'm sure there could be an interesting way to join the 2 up.
Is anyone out there interested in some Plaining at some point?

Re: Salisbury Plain?
Looking to resurrect this after Friday's MSG meet and meeting some newer Nomad owners.
Anyone interested in a bit of dirt skidding before the summer is out?
