Adjustable Seat

Post by GavM » Sun May 23, 2021 7:14 pm

Is there a simple solution (rails) to make drivers seat easy to move forward and backwards in 2018 nomad? I am 6'5 so wife struggles to reach pedals. Would prefer to keep seats if possible. Option of not letting wife drive doesn't get me home from pub!

There is an option available from the factory for this but I seem to recall it was quite pricey. The way the seats bolt in mean adapting them to slide would require modification of the chassis I guess. I'll tell you this week when I pick up Kermit as he has the carbon tillets on slides and my other nomad is the fixed buckets like in the Atom4

The Tillets are around £3k fitted including the rails.

I would ring the factory.

A B6 is the best seat of this type I’ve had too, so comfy even without padding.

Thanks all, thought it might be a punchy option but still tempted. Not sure I will get away with buying a padded cushion 🤣

I can report back now i have TicTak here. Golly those carbon seats are snug and if I'm honest my AA4 style seat are WAY more comfortable. The seat runners are a bit of a thing but actually very simple and you could easily fit a different non-carbon seat if you chose which you at least 1/3 the cost!

Right......maybe a stupid question but here goes.......has anyone joined 2 or 3 of the existing holes where the seat bolts to the chassis so it would create a 50-60mm slot?

Incoming!!.......

I asked the factory and they said I could drill another hole so I can move the seat back about another 15-20mm as I am 6'3 and finding the Nomad 'shorter' than my Atom 3. If it is an issue then I could get a steel plate made to fit into the aperture where the holes are to help reinforce the area but looking at the seat it looks about 8mm thick so should be strong enough.

Any issues please free to shoot away...........

Do you mean drill another hole in the death or the mount?

I wouldn't recommend slotting them just because of the potential for unwanted movement or shear failure if you ever did have a bump but another set of holes doesn't seem silly.

Have you thought about making a custom seat out of expanding foam? I did this for my Caterham, I am 6ft 5in so needed every cm going to fit and pass any scrutineering

Regarding Tilletts, at 6'5" it is very likely your shoulders will be too high for the harness holes on any Tillett seat apart from the new B8. I've been through this recently when chosing and fitting Tilletts to my Elise.
