Ohlins cover socks
Ohlins cover socks
Does anyone recommend putting on covers/socks over the Ohlins to protect them, and if so any recommendations on where to buy them?

Re: Ohlins cover socks
Any exposed suspension would benefit from protection.
Do a search for 'coilover spring protectors'. I got my Bilstein ones from https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/eibach- ... ors-772282
The set I have on the Fox suspension were custom made to fit my colour scheme. It's just a rectangle of hard wearing material with velcro...
BTW - where are you based Mr G? Anywhere near Salisbury???

They’re way too nice (looking) to cover, IMO.

Re: Ohlins cover socks
From the beautiful state of Utah about an hour from Zion National Park. Took delivery of my Nomad about a year ago and I have to say reading some of the posts on this forum have been very helpful to me in understanding and tweaking this "kit car" I purchased. Being the only Nomad in this State and probably most around me this has been my only source of info so I do appreciate all the posts from you folks (chaps?).
Anyway, don't know if this will help but I wanted to protect my very expensive Ohlins so after much measuring and searching I bought the following with the Eibach brand, available in red with white lettering:
Rears: Eibach ESB12.300. (3 inches by 12 inches)
Fronts: Eibach ESB14.300. (3 inches by 14 inches)
You can find them on Eibach.com but I assume any brand will work with those measurements which cover the entire coilover and thread. This brand
easily attaches with Velcro and they have never come off or even loosened. They come in pairs and each cost me about $40.00.
Hope this helps.... I believe I'm now supposed to say cheeri oh! ..... or something!

Re: Ohlins cover socks
I assume they are ohlin part number 03328-04?
Re: Ohlins cover socks
They look longer than 03328-04 which I believe are 300x270mm - but I will have a measure-up this evening and report back

Meteor motorsport (purveyors of fine shocks as used extensively in the Caterham and Lotus Elise world), in South Wales can probably supply them, so I have also dropped Simon a line there (although I appreciate Ariel can probably supply them, but I don't like to pester them too much for small parts enquiries unless I'm putting together a larger order with them for collection when the car goes in for service - I've lined up the raised air intake and winch to finish mine off in May when I next go in).

Re: Ohlins cover socks
I have found meteormotorsport.com stock their own for £20ea (offering 2 lengths 16" or 14" and specifically to go over 2.25 or 2.5" springs) and they can get the OEM Ohlins socks too for £38ea
There is another cheaper way by joining two of these neoprene cable bundle sock velcros together to cover the springs, can cut to length to fit length exactly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Management-Sle ... 497VF63CYQ
