These are from ariel - you may have a problem if using from cold on the public road.

However, I've been through three sets in 3200 miles, none have squealed and cant say I've noticed a particular problem from cold

Just a lack of servo and sports biased pads IMO.

You have to press the brake MUCH harder in Nomad / Atom than a normal car due to the lack of servo assistance.

If its more to your preference when the brakes are hot you could try softer pads, but I think its the lack of servo effect mainly.

The first time I get into the Atom after driving a normal car it is a bit of a shock the first time I use the brake but in 5 mins my brain has re-adjusted. And the brake feel you get in the Atom is lovely. ^-^

:vroom:
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

Don't really have a point of comparison but I love them. Agree that they need a fair shove to get them going, you have to get over that then the feedback is >:D

The range of modulation is far broader than a conventional servo set-up - that's part of the beauty of them.

Went for a fair old drive tonight, and must say, things can be improved if I change my style.

I tried being later and much much harder on the brakes. I'd still not describe it as hitting a brick wall, but definitely slow me down much much better.

I'm going to nut the windscreen a few times tomorrow driving in my daily :)

Thanks for all the feedback, and I may try different pads in due course... but for now, later and harder wins the day.

Give these pads a try:

I fitted these a year ago to my Atom and I have found them fine on the road and track.

Chris,

Can I ask, what was wrong with the factory supplied options that made you try something else?

I was having a big issue with squeeling. So, after a lot of googling and research ended up with these which were so cheap (after applying their rediculous discounts!) I thought they would be worth a try.

Having had my Nomad now for 11 months covered just short of 4000 miles the Alcons are superb can not fault them takes about 5 to 6 hundred miles to bed them in just needs a bit of work to put them through a few good heat cycles to get the best out of them no motorway work or dual carriageways plenty of B roads and twisties will do the trick, still squeal when cold but have a really good feel and give great feedback
