Think I'd rather have a more efficient charger and run more boost without having to add a chargecooler. I dont really like where the chargecooler is...parallel to the road behind the radiator and easy to get knocked.

I've decided to wait for Nomad II. I'll take the slight lag increase with 100lbs more torque.

I agree the charge cooler location would limit its offroad ability and likely fill with cack. Now if they mounted the charge cooler like on an RS200 that might look pretty cool and reduce plumbing and weight.

Sounds like you may be due £2.65:

Does Ariel typically offer the "R" in parallel with the standard model or once production switches that's that?

With the 3.5R you could buy either a 3.5R or 3.5 at the same time, for quite some years.

I heard the Nomad R was going to be one of 10 specials (as was the AtomV8 I guess), and was aimed at the 'stadium racer' or 'Hoonigan' market with hydraulic handbrake, street spec wheels/tyres/suspension and a bit more horsepower, racing brakes, and carbon everywhere as standard, plus a starting price in the £70kGBP+ ball park. I guess whatever it becomes (re-worked 2.4 with Supercharger, or the new 2.0 iVTEC turbo) it will be a superb bit of kit as usual. I look forward to seeing it - and the spy shots above were good to see, thanks (I would expect it look like the Nomad equivalent of the Mugen Atom - which is still my personal favourite colour scheme on an Ariel. Of course Ariel also got the look of the Atom V8 just right too - but thats in a class of its own, much like Caterham's crazy RST V8 Levante both were over 500hp and upwards of £100k at launch - which puts them in a totally different market niche). All good stuff though, and roll-on NomadR :)

They built 25 x Production Atom 500s here and in the US and I think it was from £147K (with the VAT) here in the UK.

It has gone rather quiet. Maybe it was just some decals on an un-usually specced customer car. As there is no offical Nomad R, maybe they stickered up a top spec road focused customer car? The 2ltr engine is unique though. From memory Henry confirmed they could put a charge cooler in a stealth install and up the boost in a Nomad. I don't think he confirmed the 2ltr install though. Maybe someone asked for a unique Nomad.

I am pretty sure if your wallet was "open" Ariel would help you spend your cash on lots of extras.

I guess the idea never made the cut. It should have been all over the usual journos by now for publicity purposes.

I have to admit I do like the idea of a high spec Nomad. I love the looks. As the 4 is a far heavier car I wonder what the weight difference is now. We have had 4's measured at over 650Kg which is Nomad territory from memory.
