Nomad R
Re: Nomad R
It'll have a seq box. Beyond that, who knows.
The new turbo engine probs not until the Nomad 2.

Re: Nomad R
It might. But then buying a car without a warranty, I'm not sure I want to know unless it's a blindingly obvious smoke pouring out sort. I'm poor enough already without having to spend thousands/tens of thousands fixing a problem that's not obvious.

Re: Nomad R
The dev car had a K20 S/C with Sadev gearbox and larger brakes. I had a bit of a poke around it when mine was at the factory the day before the MSG.

Re: Nomad R
It doesn't have issues. It was my car, it was/ is 100% fine.
Nomads are significantly heavier/ less pointy than Atoms; stepping from one to the other exacerbates this. Atoms-on stilts, they may be (euphemistically), but their raison d'etre is entirely different.

Re: Nomad R
Cheers Hedge, that's what I was thinking... that although it felt different it was still plenty rapid.
Re: Nomad R
Sounds like you're trying to drive in a straight line.
Sideways is where it's at...

Re: Nomad R
Phil,
Of course, they’re quick (still) but don’t think they’re a “comfortable/ soft ride” SC Atom. They ain’t. The steering is a thousand times heavier. The confidence you had in an Atom when you chuck it into a corner dissipates straight away. You think “WTF is this?” Sorta.
You have to suck up a brave pill to turn a Nomad into the same corner as an Atom at the same speed. Doesn’t mean it can’t be done, just that it’s a different technique. And one that is less intuitive, to boot. But it’s do-able. Whether you/ one gets to that point is questionable.
A Nomad rewards/ feeds back in different ways. The ride is one. The go-anywhere-you-like is another. You get pleasure(s) from trundling along BOAT’s that are completely alien to those you get at the Bedford Autodrome in an Atom. You spin the wheels at junctions, more. You giggle (childishly, obvs) at lower speeds, more, when you step it out. It’s all comically immature but that’s kinda the point.
Maybe you/ one gets it. Or maybe you don’t. You have to recalibrate, in many many ways.
Cheers,
Hedge

Re: Nomad R
It’s recalibration for sure.
They’re just such different vehicles.
Don’t for one second take my comments as though I dislike the Nomad. I love it. Really love it.
I just need to get used to the way it drives vs the way the atom did. It’s got plenty of positives above the atom (to counter the downsides), and how it drives isn’t even bad in my eyes.
Im really just trying to say that 310bhp in an Atom and 300bhp in a nomad are delivered in a massively different way, neither good nor bad.
Here’s some supercharger whine:
And some BOATing. Because I could (this is boring to watch):

I think both vids, in their own respective ways, encapsulate the difference between an Atom & a Nomad.

Re: Nomad R
Nomad r is running k24 cool charged lump with sadev. Steve ran through it with me when I was there, as I was looking for tuning options for my nomad. It's being pitched as a tarmac special (hence cut slicks)...kind of makes me wonder why when that's surely what the atom kind of does.
The cool charger sits at right angle behind the radiator, parallel to the ground. It has to run the sadev box as the US spec k24 gearbox can't take any more power.

Re: Nomad R
Mystery solved.
Any idea on the bhp?
Doesn’t sound like my kettle of fish. If I wanted a track car I’d have stuck with the atom, but then everyone’s got their own desires/reasons etc.

Re: Nomad R
Took this when I was down in April as ours will be a white frame. The carbon panels, Ohlins and V8 brakes also caught my eye. I thought it had the hot country spec radiator set up. Could this be the charge cooler?

Re: Nomad R
Unless the K24 is availble without integrated exhaust manifold, the one I saw definatly had individual headers. Hence my assumption its a K20 - Steve was being delibritly 'vauge' but eluded it was a diffrent engine to a standard nomad as I ask specificaly about the exhaust.

Re: Nomad R
The k24 can't take as much boost as the k20 even with a charge cooler. Makes sense to drop a k20 in there with a cooler tbh. A 350BHP 2ltr Nomad R would be a HOOT. But a 400BHP Nomad Turbo R would be ideal IMO.richgoflow wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:17 am Unless the K24 is availble without integrated exhaust manifold, the one I saw definatly had individual headers.
