Luggage!

Recent sailing trip led to some cunning Nomad luggage acquisition subterfuge.

These crew bags are 100% waterproof – I mean you can drop them in the sea and fish them out and everything will be bone dry.
We got two to be able to compare. Strangely the one on the left is smaller at 40L and the one on the right 45L. The 40L bag is heavier duty PVC and also has back-pack straps (It was also dearer).

I’d be quite happy just lashing both somewhere on the back of the Nomad for a long weekend away. We managed a long weekend n Wales with two much smaller backpacks – one shoved between the back of the seats and one in the footwell. Given that we got everything we needed for a week on a boat in these, I would happily do a week away in the Nomad with these.

To boot (no pun intended) we got these half price at the Musto outlet (Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth).

I love Karl V's clever spare wheel conversion with Givi motorcycle luggage and Mudnomad's 'pirate's chest'. What other creative solutions have Nomaders come up with?

I've got one of the Musto rucksacks, they are ace.

I strap mine into the passenger seat and it's never let anything in. I think i paid about £50.

Cheers,
Stu

If they're the same as the ones I saw on the musto site, a 40l full retail is about 65quid: https://www.musto.com/en_GB/waterproof- ... L3312.html

If you don't mind the brighter colours (and with a Nomad/Atom, who wouldn't!), Overboard also do some good waterproof bags, similar but a bit cheaper, eg: https://www.over-board.co.uk/waterproof ... itres.html

For what it's worth I've had one for about 4 years now, and they've done a perfect job of transporting items and keeping them dry. Only the other weak I used one driving to the factory for a service, to keep a change of clothes dry... unfortunately they were needed, but they were kept dry.

I have always found that Wetsuit Outlet usually offer the best prices for Musto bags (and also dry bags from other manufacturers)

- Overboard definitely make nice (and effective!) dry bags but, as they are primarily designed for canoeists, they simply don't offer the range of larger sizes offered by other (well known?) marine 'dry bag' manufacturers!

Re: Price of the Musto bags. 45L was £25, 40l backpack version £50. This was at the outlet though - 30 or 40% off I think.

Not one to argue about buying unnecessary things BUT are you expecting to drive in a monsoon ? I use a normal north face duffel that is rubberised but not totally waterproof. Seems to have always done the job even in hard rain.

But on the other hand.....shiny new things.....yup i am tempted....

I opted for this 60L dry bag - at £35.

I'm using the space between the 'boot' and the cage to secure it down.

It has done the trick so far; and we were in a monsoon at Devon Dash :-(
