Nomad Southern Hoon - Sunday 28th April

Post by Karl V » Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:29 pm

Following on from this thread - viewtopic.php?f=54&t=17355 - this is a placeholder for a tour of some twisty b roads, BOATs and tracks in and around the Surrey Hills.

More details to follow.

@Trigger has been checking out routes this weekend (viewtopic.php?f=54&t=17355&p=292246#p292234)

The plan is to start from the White Horse in Shere at 10:30. The White Horse doesn't open until 12, so you'll need to bring your own bacon sarnies and skinny frappe lattes I'm afraid.

We reckon we'll be done with the 30 mile tour by about 1pm, just in time for a steak sandwich / roasted lentil falafel at https://www.wottonhatch.co.uk, after which, there'll be a thorough hose down in the pub car park - or a point-and-laugh session. TBC...

I would mention the obligatory 'weather depending' clause, but we are Nomad owners after all...

BTW - it's a 7 minute drive between the proposed start and finish line along the A25. If any Atom owners out there wanted to meet us at the start and travel shotgun, to be dropped off afterwards, please do shout. I can't speak for other Nomad owners, but I'll have a seat going spare if anyone is daft enough...

Perfect timing...just back from 2wks away and 2 days before surgery on my foot, which will cause no driving for a month.

Went for a play today in the Nomad up on Leith Hill - and met a guy on his mountain bike who has a Nomad ! Think he said he was Tony French - another possible attendee.

Well hopefully joining the Nomad club on the 13/4 so am well up for this - what’s the going like? Is it full knobblies or the more road focused gravel tyres on the 18”s OK?

I have the Road/All terrains on 18" and its fine - quite hard and rutted already tbh - better when its wetter - but all good.

I would absolutely love a passenger ride for this if anyone was willing. I'd swap it for a blast in my 3.5R/Sadev. Anybody who hasn't experienced the Sadev would find it interesting...

I washed mine for the first time, yesterday. It's the hardest car I've ever had to clean. Back is killing me today, after trying to dry/clean the inside.

Absolutely drives me round the twist. And is pretty much the sole reason I'm gonna be selling mine. Does my nut in, spending hours & hours cleaning it each time you take it out/ off road.

Cheers,
Hedge
