Thanks Graeme One of us will hopefully be doing a write up about the 2018 Italian road trip when we get time.

The Italy 2018 trip after lots of planning by Graeme began on Saturday 25 August 2018 with two Ariel Atoms meeting at Folkestone services at 08.00, ready to catch the 09.36 Shuttle to Calais. The sky was blue few clouds just right for a nice blast down to Reims. First stop was Circuit De Reims Gueux. Great start to our 2018 drive.

Stopped off at Reims for lunch, we had not put any fuel in since Folkestone and found out that we could only get 95 octane in Reims. So just put in 20 euros of 95 got back on the French Autoroute where we found the most expensive 98 octane of the whole trip about 1.95 euros a litre.

Got to hotel about 19.00 in Troyes the Kyriad, nice place with secure under ground parking. Was wore out and we all had an early night.

Sunday 26th August sky was blue lovely sunny day could'nt wait to get going,this is where the driving really begins after the long drive on autoroutes yesterday. Headed off on to rural french roads, Fantastic scenery and lovely villages to drive through, getting low on fuel and soon realised that most petrol garages in this part of France are closed on sunday. So quick detour to a autoroute to top up fuel,

then back off autoroute and on to b roads to look for some where for lunch.

After lunch we had a lovely drive, the sun was shinning and the Atoms were the best place to be for the drive to Fournet Blancheroche, which is near the swiss border and our first taste of driving atoms up mountain roads with stunning views. Arrived at hotel Chambres Lauthentique to find that it looked closed.

Drove the short distance to hotel Les Louisots Castle Farm where I booked two rooms.

The rooms were really spacious and had all just been refurbished to a high standard. Rob G managed to get booked in here after finding out his hotel was indeed shut. We booked an evening meal and was in for a treat the food was excellent. The room was the best price of the whole trip and the food was very reasonable as well. It was also a very hot day.

Sun was shinning for a fast drive to Interlaken in Switzerland only 91 miles

Stopped in Interlaken for fuel which happened to be right next to our hotels, Crystal which had undercover parking and Alphorn. Then off to meet Cristoforo, Fabio's cousin at Intertkirchen, at 13.30.

Gothard pass

Roger and Cristoforo had driven many of the passes before so were great guides and showed us the route up the Grimsel, the Nurfenen, the Gothard and Susten passes, a lot of driving for first afternoon hone up the Swiss passes.
