Daily Driver
Daily Driver
A recent exchange in the Atom 4 thread made me think it a good time to ask.... what's your daily driver?
What I mean by this is the car that you commute to work/the station or go to the supermarket, golf course, gym etc in.
Yes, I know one or two of you will say you drive your atom or nomad... and if so post that, and I and others will look upto you.
I'll star the ball rolling:
* My normal daily is a Lapiz blue VW Golf R, with the DSG auto box. If it's warm and sunny, I might instead ride my Triumph Street Triple, the 765 RS.

Re: Daily Driver
IMHO It's simply easier to list your various steeds in the posting signature area (see mine below!) so they are shown every time you post in the forum!

Honda CRV 2.2 Ex Auto i-DTEC (Cyprus)
Suzuki Celerio 1.0 SZ4 (Cyprus)

It’s a fair point. But rather than ask that I thought we’d open up some discussion. Also daily may never get listed as too boring.autobackup wrote:IMHO It's simply easier to list your various steeds in the posting signature area (see mine below!) so they are shown every time you post in the forum!
Final reason is that sigs don’t show up in Tapatalk, which I’m using to reply here
Anyway, no pressure, each to their own. If you want to share please do. If you don’t, don’t.

Re: Daily Driver
As I mentioned in the other thread, Nardo Grey AUDI RS: saloon.
Great car in many ways. However before that I owned a 911 Turbo S, Gen 1 991.
Trouble is I did 30k miles in it, over 20 months, and they are expensive to run, so thought I should chop it in, big regret.
I absolutely LOVE the cars!!!! For me, a PERFECT daily would be a Gen 2 Turbo S, with my 3.5R in the garage! That would be true PERFECTION!
They have Traction Control, so no need to have it on the Atom
That’s the aim, but I don’t know when.....
Who can better my dream daily and garage car? Mark is NOT allowed to play this game

Re: Daily Driver
I use a Range Rover Sport 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography daily, with the kids and when I try and play golf (badly), it’s semi of visible in my profile picture.
Re: Daily Driver
2016 Alpina B3 Touring Allrad. Comfortable, fast and discreet. Lovely sound. Even has a towing hook to pull the Atom to the track.
Re: Daily Driver
Skoda Octavia VRS wagon (petrol and manual obviously). Golf GTi motor. Recommended.
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.
Re: Daily Driver
I don't see why not, my other half has a 595, which is much the same thing, just a bit stiffer sprung and more noisey, and it's a hoot to drive.
Re: Daily Driver
Very nice. You are right, they are so light you can throw them around. It's actually my wife's car, I don't actually need a car due to the way I live travelling a lot (flights) so I choose to save my money instead.
Re: Daily Driver
Sorry for the slightly long answer but I have a 2017 manual Leon Cupra 300 which I have on a 2 year private lease. It runs out in November and I have spent the last couple of months trying to find something to replace it with - again on a lease. As a business owner, it never made sense to get car through the business because of the high BiK rates on anything vaguely "interesting". Then a couple of weeks ago I read that the government had cut the BiK rates on all purely electric cars to 0% April 2020 and then 1 % in 2021 and 2% in 2022! This got me thinking about what sort of interesting electric cars are available, and so I booked test drives in a Jaguar i-Pace and then an Audi Etron. Neither quite did it for me as I am not a big fan of SUVs especially here in Cornwall. I have never really looked as Tesla's before (the S and X are £80k+ new) but the Model 3 has just been launched in the UK and when I read that the Performance model was £54k, capable of 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and had a real world range of 250 miles, it got my attention. So, to cut a long story short, I have a test drive in one on Friday, and if all goes to plan it will be my daily driver when the Leon goes back.
