ULEZ confirmed!

Post by Bruce Fielding » Thu Mar 26, 2015 5:03 pm

So the bad news is that the ULEZ has been confirmed today. Vehicles that don't conform to emission standards will have to bay £12.50 per day, 24/7 from September 2020 for driving into London.

This means that my current Atom won't pass.

Good news is that my Alvis will be exempt.

I actually read through the ULEZ details listed and have a couple of points:

It states "Following a public consultation, the Mayor has confirmed the introduction of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in the Capital on 7 September 2020. This will encourage the use of newer, cleaner vehicles, improving the quality of life and health of Londoners." All I can say is that the ULEZ zone is pretty much central London so therefore it will improve the air quality breathed in by the rich & famous and a few Londoners plus a heap of commuters.

Second point I note is in the ULEZ standards it states "A petrol car or small van manufactured since 1 January 2006 will meet the ULEZ standards." therefore I'm surmising that we won't have to pay the £12.50 as the Honda engine must have met Euro 4 for the Civic.
