Search and rescue operations to be farmed out Why make RAF personnel redundant and give search and rescue contract to a private company?
70 years of RAF service in this area and now its not good enough?
This government know the cost of everything and the value of nothing - at least on face value - whichever way you look at it its a billion plus going out of the country...
RAF to no longer supply search and rescue
RAF to no longer supply search and rescue

I am not sure about whichever way. I can think of a way where the rescue staff, ground support staff and so on are all paid and taxed in the UK which comes from that billion plus.
Note, that is not a comment on the process of outsourcing the service, I don't have a strong opinion on that, but is another way to look at it.
