I think engines mostly spin the same way, anticlockwise from the driver in an in line set up.  Hence right hand drive cars are better as the drive offsets the torque from the driveshaft spinning (last bit an approx quote from Ettorie Bugatti)

Assuming you would swap the engine and gearbox I guess that would take car of it all.

Some owners manage to go quite fast enough backwards as it is.

even an engine from a imprezza sti with a few tweaks is not gonna give you much more than 300hp without internal problems.
Then i thought of bigger engines....................an M3 lump..........but again just over 300hp.
this honda engine really does the job well.
4 wheel drive would interest me though.

How about 1400 bhp?

The Americans can tweak theirs to that!

Having all this extra power is all very well, but the Atom with 300Bhp is quite something to handle, I would bet that most of us can't handle the 300 effectively.

Anything over 300 and unless you have the twinkletoed lightfootedness of of a Nureyev, you'll need a new nose job on a regualr basis!

Just received this email from Simon:

John

We only wish we could build the cars faster, but it's worth it to see the smile on people's faces when they pick them up and that will always give us pleasure.

It will be worth the wait.

Regards

Simon

Nice to know they get pleasure from our excitement!

So have you a date.  I want to be there and take photographic evidence and when are you going to empty the garage???

My chassis arrives end of next week and I've been invited down to take pics the following week during the build. If you go down maybe you could take some too.

I don't know how long the SVA takes - probably get it by Christmas I hope.

Let me know the dates.  I'll meet you there,  my frequent visits must be slowing down production.  :o

I think you must hold the record!  As soon as I know anything I'll let you know.

Oh look how early it is!

Ah, so you're to blame for my car not being ready yet!!

Has anyone been in the last week or so? Any photos of my car by any chance? I thought not...  :(

Hi Andy, if you're after pics of your Atom during build, they have a camera at the factory and will take pics for you.

Do you have any idea when they started yours and how long it's gonna take?

Don't know when they started, but its hopefully going to be finished Wednesday afternoon.

They're getting so many broken ones back at the moment, its a real juggling act between repairing existing cars, and building new ones! Simon made a point of specifically asking me not to crash !!
