Forum Robot / Digest Running Amok !?

Post by John Scherrer » Mon Aug 14, 2023 9:27 am

Is anyone else getting bombarded with these ? - I used to get them weekly but since the forum was down shortly a couple of days ago, I'm getting many per day - all the same post too.

I've gone into the Control Panel and reset everything related which all looked normal.

I stopped getting them altogether a few weeks ago. We have a guru on the case!

No problems for me, as I'm still getting just one every weekend.

Unfortunately, over the last week, the situation has changed and I can now get a "Ariel.Club Forum Robot - Ariel.Club Forum Weekly Digest", up to five or six times a day.

As soon as I delete one, another arrives.

Maybe it's time to mark them as "SPAM" and just look in that folder occasionally, because they're clogging up my normal In Box Folder making it hard to read through important emails.

Here we go again.

Just 2 hours 18 minutes after posting this comment, another "Weekly" digest email arrived in my In Box.

This is now beyond a joke, and needs to be sorted.

Oddly I haven't received one for ages, then following reading this and a brief return to looking around in the forum I got one delivered the next day. Maybe it's got something to do with the site's cookies somehow?

Well, this is the contents of an email I've just received supposedly explaining why I'm being inundated with "Ariel.Club Forum Robot - Ariel.Club Forum Weekly Digest" notifications.

That can't be true, because after I made my comment in August, I received just one a week until recently when they began arriving all the time, with no other comments on this thread until I returned to complain after 3 Months, then you made another comment after mine, so no reason as implied in the email.

I only returned to it to try to stop being bombarded, so I'm not specifically following it, but it hasn't made any difference.

Whoever controls how this Forum functions, gets a :td: from me.

If you haven't already tried this ..

Click the red 'Notifications' bell
Click 'Settings'
Click 'Digests' tab

You can now choose how often you want the Digests sent - None, Daily, Weekly etc and what time.

Click Submit and see if that resolves the issue - if that doesn't work, try clicking 'Reset'

Hope this helps ..

I've never altered anything in those settings before, and it was already set to "Weekly", so I've un-clicked some of the other settings which I didn't know were there to see if that makes any difference.

I just noticed as I clicked "send" for my last reply, that there was another setting at the bottom which said "Notify me when a reply is posted", so I'm making this post so I could un-click that setting as well.
