Why ?

You can get virtually silent cooling fans these days - Checkout the Noctua NF-F12PWM for 120mm case cooling or NH-D14 CPU Cooler ..

I have to check sometimes that the PC is still switched on  :)

Then you should listen to my PC, at times I think the fan is powered by an internal combustion engine  ;D

But you're right, there are some pretty impressive machines avaible on the market.
